SLET 2026: About the exam

The SLET examination is conducted by the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET), North-east region to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges of North-east India. Instituted in 1988, the SLET examination ensures a standardized benchmark for higher education faculty, guaranteeing that only those with the requisite academic qualifications and research aptitude are considered for these coveted roles.

Eligibility criteria

• General/ Unreserved/ General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination. However, the SC, ST, PWD Category, and OBC belonging to the non-creamy layer who have secured at least 50% marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the SLET 2026 examination.
• Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the final qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and the result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examination has been delayed may also apply for SLET.
• However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for the award of a pass certificate only after they have passed the Master’s degree examination or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks in the case of General/ Unreserved/ General-EWS category and at least 50% marks in case of OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC/ ST/ PWD/ Third Gender category candidates.
• Such candidates must obtain a Master’s Degree within 2 years from the date of the concerned SLET 2026 result with a required percent of marks failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

Alternatively, M. Tech in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS, or related fields with forestry/ ecological experience.

Experience & Skills

• Relevant experience in remote sensing, GIS, GPS, UAV applications for natural resources and agriculture is desirable.
• For IT posts, experience in mobile app development, spatial decision support systems, geospatial dashboards, AI/ML/DL applications, programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, and tools like Hadoop, Apache Web Server, ArcGIS Arcade is preferred.
• Experience with satellite data processing tools such as ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, Google Earth Engine, familiarity with AI/ML geospatial tools, and Geo Web portals/Web GIS applications is desirable for related project roles.

Pay Scale

The pay scale for the APSC Grade IV Recruitment 2025 is Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 52,000 with a grade pay of Rs. 3,900 under Pay Band-1. Candidates will also be entitled to other allowances as admissible to Assam State Government employees from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates applying under APSC Grade IV Recruitment 2025 must be between 18 and 40 years as of 1st January 2025. Age relaxation applies as follows:

• 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates (up to 45 years)
• 3 years relaxation for OBC/MOBC, Tea Tribe & Adivasi Community candidates (up to 43 years)
• 10 years relaxation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (irrespective of category)

Note: Candidate must be an Indian citizen and permanent resident of Assam.

Educational Qualification
