Admissions to Class VI in JNVs are conducted through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). These schools aim to provide good quality modern education to talented children predominantly from rural areas. Registration for the JNVST 2026 for admission to Class-VI is now open via an online process.

1. Who can Apply?

Admission to Class VI in a JNV is district specific. A candidate is eligible to apply for JNVST 2026 only in the same district where they are studying Class V. Only bona fide resident candidates from the district concerned, who are also studying Class V in the same district, are eligible.

Key eligibility criteria include:

  • The candidate must be studying in Class V for the whole of the academic session 2025-26 in a Government/ Government aided or other recognized school located in the same district where they are seeking admission.
  • Candidates must have studied and passed Class III, IV & V from a Govt./ Govt. aided/ recognized school, spending one full academic session in each class.
  • Candidates who have passed Class V before the session 2025-26 or are repeated candidates are not allowed.
  • A candidate seeking admission must have been born on or after 01-05-2014 and on or before 31-07-2016 (Both dates are inclusive)9. This age criteria applying under JNVST 2026, applies to candidates of all categories.
  • Candidates studying under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) scheme must have obtained a ‘B’ certificate on or before 15th September 2025 and be a bona fide resident of the same district where they are seeking admission.
  • No candidate is eligible to apply for the selection test for the second time.
  • Rural candidates must have studied in Classes-III, IV and V in Government/ Government Aided/ Government recognized schools located in rural areas, completing a full academic session in each. The candidate should study the full academic session under a rural area in Class-V from the same district where admission is sought.
  • A candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area for even a single day during Class III, IV, or V will be considered an urban candidate

  • Next upload the candidate’s photo, signature, certificate by the Head Master, and also a signature from any one of the parents
  • That’s it, submit the application form

JNVST 2026: Date of Test

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test or JNVST 2026 for admission to Class-VI for the academic session 2026-27 will be held in two phases19:

  • Phase 1: On Saturday, 13th December, 2025 at 11.30 A.M. This phase covers the States of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh (except Dibang Valley & Tawang Districts), Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh (except Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Solan and Shimla Districts), Jammu & Kashmir (only for Jammu-I, Jammu-II, Samba & Udhampur), Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand & West Bengal (except Darjeeling), and the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
  • Phase 2: On Saturday, 11th April, 2026 at 11.30 A.M. Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The JNVST 2026 will have 80 objective-type questions of 100 marks in total. Each candidate will be given 120 minutes, i.e. 2 hours to complete the paper. However, there is a relaxation for Divyang students or differently-abled students, and they will get an additional 40 minutes to complete the paper.

Section 1: Mental Ability Test (MAT)

The first section of the JNVST 2026 will have reasoning-type questions to check the mental ability of the candidate and all of them will be based on some diagrams. It is divided into 10 parts (listed below) and will have 4 questions of each type.

Section 2: Arithmetic Test

The second section of the paper will have 20 mathematical questions to measure the candidate’s basic competencies in Arithmetic, and the questions will be based on the following 15 topics:

  1. Number and Numeric system
  2. Four fundamental operations on the Whole number
  3. Factors and multiples including their properties
  4. Decimals and Fundamental Operations on them
  5. Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa
  6. Measurement of length, mass, capacity, time, money, etc.
  7. Simplification of Numerical Expressions
  8. Fractional numbers – addition and subtraction of like fractions and multiplication (unlike fraction and division of fractional numbers not included)
  9. Profit and loss without calculation of percentage (calculation of the percentage of profit and loss is exempted from the topic)
  10. Perimeter and Area: the perimeter of a polygon, area of a square, rectangle, and triangle (as a part of a rectangle)
  11. Types of Angles and their Simple Applications
  12. Data analysis using bar diagram, graph, and line chart

Section 3: Language Test

The third and last section of the JNVST 2026 is to assess the reading comprehension of the candidates. This section will have 4 passages and 5 questions with each passage, that is 20 questions in total. Candidates will need to read the passages given and find out the answers to the questions given along with them.

This course will be conducted in various National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognized Teacher Education Institutes across the state, including DIETs, CTEs, Normal Schools, BTCs, and Private TEls. Assam D.El.Ed. PET 2025: Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Assam D.El.Ed. PET 2025:

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] examination from a recognized board or council with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, excluding marks in optional/ extra/ fourth subjects.
  • A relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST(P), and ST(H) categories.
  • Furthermore, candidates must be between 18 and 34 years of age as on July 1, 2025, with a 2-year upper age limit relaxation for SC, ST(P), and ST(H) candidates.
  • Reservation of seats will be as per the existing state government policy for various categories, including OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PWD, and EWS.

The compartmental examination will offer another chance to those students who could not pass the HSLC exam, held from the 15th of February to the 3rd of March, 2025.

The form fillup for the Compartment exam had begun just a few days after the declaration of SEBA Class 10th Results, and interested candidates had time upto 27th of April to apply for the same. As the application procedure is completed, ASSEB has released the Assam HSLC Compartment Exam Routine 2025 on the 6th of May, 2025.

Guidelines

In the notification for Assam HSLC Compartment Exam Routine 2025, ASSEB has outlined the following key points regarding the conduct of the exams:

  • The Assam HSLC Compartment Exam 2025 will be conducted offline in two shifts: morning and afternoon.
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
  • The 1st shift exam timing will be 9.00 AM to 12.00 PM, and the 2nd shift timing will be 1.30 PM to 4.30 PM.
  • Reporting time for the Morning shift will be 8:15 AM, and for Afternoon shift, it will be 12:45 PM.
  • Elective languages (Time: 3 hours): There will be a common Question paper with Group A and Group B for each Language viz, Assamese(E), Bengali(E), Hindi(E), Bodo(E), Manipuri(E) and Santhali (E). Group-A will be treated as IL.
  • In English, General Mathematics, General Science and Social Science, candidates have to answer both Objective and Descriptive parts and passing in both independently is mandatory.

The rechecking process enables students to ensure that their answers were assessed accurately and free from any calculation mistakes during evaluation. This article provides detailed information on how to apply for rechecking.

Key Features of HS Result Rechecking 2025

  • The candidate shall note that the Re-Checking of the Answer Script shall not mean Re-Evaluation of the Answer Scripts. Re-checking shall include the following points:
    • Re-totaling of marks awarded by the examiner.
    • Assessment of Answer(s) which has/ have been left out unevaluated.
    • Correction of wrong entry of marks in any manner/ nature.
  • Rechecking results will be notified within 30 days of the application deadline.
  • If marks change, updated mark sheets will be issued only after submitting the originals via your school.
  • No marksheets/ certificates will be sent directly to students or through other agencies.
  • Rechecking results will be available on the official website.

General Instructions

  • The application portal opens two days after the result declaration and remains active for 15 days from the date of activation.
  • Applications submitted without the prescribed fee or through offline mode will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete applications or those submitted by third parties will be outright rejected.
  • Evaluated answer scripts are treated as confidential and are not subject to the RTI Act, 2005 until the rechecked results of the HS Final Examination 2025 are declared.
  • A scanned copy of the evaluated answer script, with all evaluator identity details masked, will be sent to the candidate via email.
  • The decision of the Board regarding the rechecked marks is final and cannot be contested.
  • Candidates are strictly prohibited from sharing the scanned answer script with institutions, media, or using it for commercial purposes. Any such violation will attract legal action.
  • The evaluated answer script cannot be legally challenged in any court or forum.
  • The Board will not be liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused to the candidate due to communication delays resulting from circumstances beyond its control.

Ranoj Pegu confirmed that the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will declare the Class 12th results tomorrow, i.e. on the 30th of April, 2025, at 09:00 AM.

This year, the HSLC examinations were held from the 13th of February, 2025, to the 17th of March, 2025.
