Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, a state agricultural university under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) framework, has released Advertisement No. 2/2026 inviting online applications from Indian citizens for the AAU KVK Recruitment 2026. This recruitment drive covers a total of 33 posts across nine categories under the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of the university, including Senior Scientist and Head, Subject Matter Specialist, Farm Manager, and several other technical and support roles.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

The maximum upper age limit for AAU KVK Recruitment 2026 as on 1st January 2026 varies by post, as follows.

Senior Scientist and Head	47 years
Subject Matter Specialist, Farm Manager, Programme Assistant (Lab. Technician), Programme Assistant (Computer)	38 years
Assistant, Stenographer Grade-III, Driver, Supporting Staff – Grade I	40 years

There is no upper age limit for in-service candidates of AAU. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are entitled to age relaxation as per the norms of the Government of Assam; candidates may check the official notification of AAU KVK Recruitment 2026 for the complete category-wise relaxation details.

Residency Requirement

Candidates who are permanent residents of Assam should apply for all categories of posts under AAU KVK Recruitment 2026, except for the post of Senior Scientist and Head. In-service candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent department or organisation along with the application.

Educational Qualification

Senior Scientist and Head: Doctoral degree in a relevant field of Agriculture, Animal Science, Fisheries, Community Science, Horticulture, or Sericulture, along with 8 years of experience (excluding the period spent in obtaining the Ph.D. degree) as Scientist/ Lecturer/ Extension Specialist or in an equivalent position, with contributions to research, teaching, or extension education evidenced by published work or innovations. Specialisation in implementing extension education programmes is desirable.
Subject Matter Specialist: Master’s degree in Agriculture/ Animal Science/ Fisheries Science from a recognised University.
Farm Manager: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/ Animal Science/ Fishery Science/ Horticulture/ Sericulture from a recognised University.
Programme Assistant (Lab. Technician): Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/ Animal Science/ Fishery Science/ Community Science/ Horticulture/ Sericulture from a recognised University.
Programme Assistant (Computer): Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Information Technology or an equivalent field from a recognised University.
Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognised University.
Stenographer Grade-III: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University with working knowledge of computer (minimum 6 months Diploma in Computer Application). Candidates will be given a dictation test in English at 80 w.p.m. for 10 minutes, followed by transcription of the matter on computer within 50 minutes.
Driver: Passed HSLC or its equivalent examination from a recognised board, with a driving license for both heavy and light vehicles and 2 years of driving experience. Candidates will also have to clear a practical skill test conducted by an appropriate Committee of the University. A one-year trade certificate from ITI and experience of motor mechanic work are desirable.
Supporting Staff – Grade I: Matriculation or equivalent pass, or ITI pass.

Experience

Senior Scientist and Head: 8 years of relevant experience, as detailed above.
Assistant: 5 years of work experience in Accounts and establishment.
Driver: 2 years of driving experience, along with the desirable ITI trade certificate and motor mechanic experience mentioned above.
