The United Kingdom’s international organization-British Council, for cultural relations and educational opportunities, announces the GREAT Scholarship program for Postgraduate (PG) students across India and 17 other countries. The GREAT Scholarship 2022-23 session offers Scholarships to study in UK-based universities, across a variety of subjects with each scholarship worth a minimum of £10,000 (approx. INR 10,00,000) as tuition fees for a one-year taught postgraduate course.
Eligibility criteria for GREAT Scholarship
The candidate aspiring for the Scholarship must satisfy the following criteria :
- Candidate have to be a citizen of India
- Candidate must be a Graduate, and need to have good interest in the subject selected
- Candidate have to meet the English language requirement of the UK HEI
- Candidate must establish engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment
- Candidate must be willing to attend a networking event of all UK based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK
- Candidate should maintain contact with the British Council and their HEI and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarship and also as an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, candidate should have the will occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.
The GREAT Scholarship 2022-23
There are a total of 19 universities offering postgraduate courses under the GREAT scholarship. The application process for the 2022-23 session for different universities is now open and the closing dates vary depending upon the university. Candidates can visit the official website of the universities, check the details, and apply to study the subject of their choice with a scholarship.

Under the GREAT Scholarship scheme, there are also scholarships for Justice and Law subjects which are offered in 7 universities based in the UK.
