NMMS Scholarship 2026: Online Application For NMMS Exam Begins In Assam

The NMMS Scholarship 2026 is implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is a screening test conducted for students of Class VIII for the academic session 2026-27, and will be held across 169 examination centres in Assam. The scholarship offers Rs. 12,000/- per annum to selected students, up to Class XII. The date of examination for the NMMS Exam 2026 is 28th November 2026 (Saturday).

Eligibility Criteria

School Type

Only students studying in Government and Provincialised schools are eligible to be considered for the NMMS Scholarship. Students from Private Schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) can appear in the examination, but they will not be considered for the scholarship.

Parental Income

The parental annual income of the candidate must be less than or equal to Rs. 3.5 lakh for consideration under the NMMS Scholarship 2026.

Important Instructions for Application

Before filling up the NMMS Scholarship 2026 application form, candidates need to complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is also mandatory to provide the correct UDISE code of the Government or Provincialised school where the candidate is currently studying.

Each Government and Provincialised school shall enrol a minimum of the top three eligible students for the NMMS Examination 2026, whose parental annual income does not exceed Rs. 3.50 lakh, and the Examination Fee for these students shall be exempted. However, students who have already paid the fee shall not be refunded. For schools under the Sixth Schedule Areas and the Bodoland Territorial Region, the top five eligible students from each school, whose parental income is below Rs. 3.50 lakh, shall be exempted from the fee.

After submission of the individual application forms, the Head of the Institution shall submit a list of enrolled students, containing their Name, Application ID, and NSP OTR Number, to the concerned Inspector of Schools on or before 27th October 2026 for processing of the fee exemption. The concerned Inspector of Schools shall then compile this data and submit the consolidated list in Excel format to the Directorate on or before 31st October 2026, to facilitate the timely issuance of e-Admit Cards.

Steps to Apply for NMMS Scholarship 2026

Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal, if not already done.
Enter the correct UDISE code of the Government or Provincialised school currently attended.
Fill in the required personal and academic details in the application form.
Upload the necessary details and submit the application.
Pay the applicable examination fee as per the category.
