The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on the 1st of August, 2024 issued a notification inviting online applications to fill the vacancies against Nursing Officers. However, AIIMS has not yet declared the number of vacancies to be filled by examining the desired candidates via the 7th edition of the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test or NORCET 2024.
Candidates who are willing to join this post can apply for NORCET 2024 on or before the 21st of August, and the Stage-I examination is scheduled for September 15th, 2024. Interested candidates can read this article for all kinds of relevant information.

The selected candidates from the NORCET 2024 will draw salaries as follows:

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Qualification 1:
- The candidates shall be graduates, i.e., having B.Sc.(Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/ State Nursing Council recognized Institution.
- Or, candidates who have a B.Sc Post-Certificate/ Post-Basic BSc Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or a State Nursing Council recognized Institution can also apply.
- And shall be registered as Nurses & midwives with State/ Indian Nursing Council.
- Qualification 2:
- The candidates shall have a Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council or the State Nursing Council-recognized Institution.
- They shall also be registered as Nurses & midwives in the State or Indian Nursing Council.
- And, they shall have a 2-year experience in a minimum 50 bedded hospital after acquiring all the necessary educational qualifications mentioned above.
Age-Limit
The age limit is 18 to 30 years for candidates applying to NORCET 2024. The age shall be counted on the last date of application submission, i.e. 21st August 2024. However, there are certain relaxations in the age limit for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

- Then candidates will need to register themselves in the portal
- After successful registration, fill out the form with all relevant personal and educational information
- Upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format
- Pay the application fee and click on submit
- Lastly, download the acknowledgement receipt of NORCET 2024 for future reference

NORCET 2024: Exam Pattern
The term NORCET stands for Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test. It is conducted by AIIMS in online CBT mode to recruit Nursing Officers at various branches of AIIMS all over India. NORCET 2024 will be conducted in two stages, which are the Preliminary and the Main Exam.
Stage I: Preliminary Exam
- The test will be conducted for 100 marks covering 100 Multiple-Choice Questions.
- The candidate will be given 90 minutes to complete the test.
- Out of these 100 questions, 80 MCQs will be related to the syllabus of Nursing courses being taught at the essential qualification level, and the remaining 20 MCQs will be related to General Knowledge & Aptitude.
- The question paper will be divided into 5 sections each of 18 minutes duration, where each section will contain 20 questions.
- For each correct answer, the candidate is awarded 1 mark and 1/3 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- The qualifying marks in the Stage I: NORCET Preliminary Examination will be 50 percentiles for UR/ EWS, 45 percentiles for OBC, and 40 percentiles for SC & ST. For PWBD candidates, an additional 5% relaxation will be given irrespective of their category.
Stage II: Main Exam
All the candidates, who qualify in Stage I equal 5 times the total seats in each category (UR, OBC, SC, ST,
EWS) will be called for Stage II
- The duration of the examination shall be 180 minutes.
- There will be 160 MCQs of 160 marks related to the subject covering the entire syllabus of Nursing courses being taught at the essential qualification level focused towards case scenario-based questions for testing nursing skills competency.
- There will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
- The question paper will be divided into 4 sections of 45 minutes each containing 40 questions.
- The qualifying (percentage) marks in the NORCET 2024 Exam will be 50% for UR/ EWS, 45% for OBC and 40% for SC & ST. For PWBD, an additional 5% relaxation will be given irrespective of their category.
