Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification yesterday on February 2nd, 2022. The registration process for UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 is now open from 2nd February onwards. And the candidates will have time up to 22nd February to register themselves by visiting the official website- upsc.gov.in.
To clear the UPSC Civil Services examination and get posted on administrative services, a candidate has to appear in three rounds consisting of – Prelims, Mains, and Personal Interview. The Preliminary examination will be held on June 5 throughout several test centers all over India. The Preliminary Exam will consist of two papers – General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II carrying 200 marks each.
The Commission will prepare a list of candidates to be qualified for Civil Services (Main) Examination based on the criterion of minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as may be determined by the Commission.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidates age should be between 21 years to 32 years, as on the 1st of August, 2022. However there are a few relaxations for various reserved categories.
- The candidates must hold a graduate degree from any of the recognised institutes.
- The candidates from unreserved categories are permitted to appear in Civil Service Examination for upto 6 attempts, whereas OBC and PwBD candidates have 9 attemps and here are unlimited attempts for SC and ST candidates.
How to apply for UPSC Civil Services?
All the candidates who wish to appear for UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 will have to follow these steps to get themselves registered for UPSC Civil Service Prelims, 2022:
- The candidate has to visit the official website of UPSC, and select the ‘Various application form’ link present on the homepage.
- Now he or she has to choose the link ‘Click here for part I registration’
- The application form is to be completed by the candidate and the required fee payment is to be done.
- The candidate has to select their respective test center and upload the required documents.
- Lastly, he or she has to click on ‘Agree to the declaration’ to complete his or her registration.

Vacancies Available
This year, the number of vacancies to be filled through the UPSC Civil Services examination is expected to be approximately 861, which will include 34 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, i.e. 7 Vacancies for candidates of (a) blindness and low vision; 11-Vacancies for (b) deaf and hard of hearing; 8-Vacancies for (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; and 8- Vacancies for (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness.
