The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Dispur, Guwahati, has invited online applications from eligible citizens of India for filling up posts of Hindi Reporter, Hindi Translator, Bengali Translator and Karbi Translator. The advertisement was issued on 3rd September 2026 vide No. LAE.57/2026/3949.

Note:

  • The engagement shall be purely temporary and on a contractual basis, and may be terminated at any time without assigning any reason.
  • The initial term of appointment shall be for six months and may be extended further, depending on the necessity of the work.
  • No TA/DA shall be admissible to candidates for appearing in the Test/Interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Applicants applying under Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat Recruitment 2026 must not be less than 21 years or more than 40 years of age as on 1st January 2026.
  • The age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates and by 3 years for OBC/ MOBC candidates.
  • The age of candidates will be calculated based on the School/ Matriculation/ HSLC Admit Card/ Certificate issued by a recognised Board/ Council/ School, or another applicable Government document.

Educational Qualification

Hindi Reporter

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University.
  • Diploma in Hindi Stenography with a qualifying speed of 80 words per minute, along with DTP typewriting (Hindi) from a recognised Institution.
  • 6 (six) months Diploma/ Certificate in Computer Application.
  • Sound knowledge of Assamese and English language.
  • Candidates having knowledge/ experience in Parliamentary functioning shall be given preference.

Hindi Translator

  • Bachelor degree or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognised University, with Hindi as one of the subjects in the course.
  • Sound knowledge in Assamese and English literature.
  • 6 (six) months Diploma/ Certificate in Computer Application.
  • Candidates having knowledge/ experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Hindi newspapers shall be given preference.

Bengali Translator

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University, with Bengali as one of the subjects in the course.
  • Sound knowledge in Assamese, English and Bengali literature.
  • 6 (six) months Diploma/ Certificate in Computer Application.
  • Candidates having knowledge/ experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Bengali newspapers shall be given preference.

Karbi Translator

  • Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised University.
  • Sound knowledge in Assamese, English and Karbi language/ literature.
  • 6 (six) months Diploma/ Certificate in Computer Application.
  • Candidates having knowledge/ experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Karbi newspapers shall be given preference.

Selection Process

  • The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat will first shortlist the names of eligible candidates.
  • Candidates shortlisted for the post of Hindi Reporter under Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat Recruitment 2026 will have to sit for a Speed Test, while those shortlisted for the posts of Hindi/ Karbi/ Bengali Translator will be required to appear before an Interview Board, both to be conducted by the Secretariat.
