The Directorate General Assam Rifles, Shillong, has released the Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 notification for its Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally. Assam Rifles is a Central Armed Police Force functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs, with operational control resting with the Indian Army. The notification, issued vide Memo No. I.12016/A Branch (Rect Cell)/2026/1310 dated 27th August 2026, invites online applications from eligible male candidates for enrolment into Group C posts across various technical and tradesman trades.
The Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 rally is tentatively scheduled to be held from 23rd November 2026 onwards. Vacancies have been earmarked on an all-India basis for each category, with no state-wise quota. Candidates belonging to the physically handicapped category are not eligible for this recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Educational qualification varies trade-wise for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 and includes a mix of Class 10th/ Matriculation, Class 10+2, ITI trade certificates and diplomas relevant to each technical trade, such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumental Technology, Metalsmith/ Metallurgy, Architectural Assistantship and Operation Theatre Technology, among others.
- Candidates are advised to check the trade-wise qualification listed against their preferred post in the official notification before applying.
Age Limit
- The cut-off date for determining age for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 is 1st July 2026. The upper age limit is 18-23 years for most Rifleman and Havildar trades, while it is 18-25 years for Warrant Officer (Cipher), Warrant Officer (Draughtsman), Warrant Officer (Operation Theatre Technician) and Warrant Officer (Physiotherapist) trades.
- Age relaxation is available as follows: 5 years for SC/ ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, 3 years for Ex-Servicemen (UR) after deduction of military service rendered from actual age, 6 years (3+3) for Ex-Servicemen (OBC), and 8 years (3+5) for Ex-Servicemen (SC/ ST).
- The upper age limit is also relaxable by 5 years for Government servants and by 3 years for Other Backward Classes candidates, in accordance with Central Government instructions. Departmental (serving Assam Rifles) candidates are relaxable up to 40 years of age.

Weight will be considered corresponding to height and age as per medical standards. Relaxation in physical standards is admissible for Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras and Marathas on production of a valid certificate from the competent authority.
Selection Process
Selection for Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 will be made through the following stages:
- Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) based Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Trade Skill Test
- Documents Verification (DV)
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME), wherever applicable
Candidates who qualify in all the above stages will be placed in the merit list, trade and category-wise, as per the vacancies shown in the notification. Qualifying all the tests does not guarantee final selection; final selection will be made purely on the basis of position in the merit list against available vacancies in the respective trade/ category.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Details
- All India (except Ladakh Region) for male candidates: 5 km run to be completed within 24 minutes.
- Ladakh Region for male candidates: 1.6 km run to be completed within 7 minutes.
Computer Based Test (CBT) And Trade Skill Test
- The Computer Based Test will carry 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 35% for General/ EWS candidates and 33% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates.
- Candidates successful in the RFID based PET, PST, documents verification and CBT will be shortlisted for the Trade Skill Test, based on merit in the CBT, in the ratio of about 4 times the number of vacancies in each trade/ category.
- The Trade Skill Test is based on Computer Based Test and specific practical skill test performance; no separate marks are awarded for it, and it is qualifying in nature.
Documents Required
Candidates must carry original documents along with photocopies for verification at the time of reporting for the RFID based PST/PET, which include:
- Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate (for date of birth and name)
- Domicile/ Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC)
- Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate, as applicable
- Income and Asset Certificate (for EWS candidates), valid for financial year 2025-26
- Fee payment challan/ receipt
- Printed copy of the online application form duly completed
