Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024: The Assam Secretariat, Guwahati released a notification on 9th September 2024 inviting applications for the post of Stenographer Grade-ll in the Assam Secretariat (Janata Bhawan) under the General Administration Department, Government of Assam.

Vacancies

The Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 has a total of 36 vacancies which are distributed as follows:

Stenographer Grade -ll (English)- 26 posts
Stenographer Grade-ll (Language)- 10 posts

Note: In Stenographer Gr-ll (English), 1 (one) post is reserved for blindness and low vision, and 1 (one) post is reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

Salary

The Salary structure of Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 for the post of Stenographer Grade -ll is – Pay scale + Grade Pay + other allowances as admissible to the Assam State Government employees from time to time (per month).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The applicant must have a minimum education qualification to pass the degree examination or equivalent examination from a recognized university with proficiency in stenography.

Age

The applicant for Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 for the post of Stenographer should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as of 1st January 2024. The category-wise upper age limit is relaxable as –

By 5 years for SC/STP/STH candidates i,e, upto 43 years,
By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i,e, upto 41 years
For persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) by 10 years irrespective of SC/ST/OBC and General Category of candidates
For Ex-Servicemen
- Maximum 50 years for UR
- Maximum 53 years for OBC/MOBC
- Maximum 55 years for SC/ST

Selection procedure

The selection of candidates for the post of Stenographer Grade-Il under Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 consists of the following:

Stenographer Proficiency Test
Objective Type Written Test.

Stenographer Proficiency Test

Candidates whose applications are accepted will be required to appear in the Stenography Proficiency Test at 100 WPM (Word Per Minute speed ) in English and 90 WPM in Language (Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi) as follows:-

NOTE:

There will be a trial passage and another test passage selected beforehand,
The trial passage will be dictated by the same person who will dictate the test passage so that the candidate can get familiar with his mode of dictation and accents and pronunciation
The trail passage will be dictated twice at the same speed as the test passage, with an interval of one minute in between,
The candidate shall have to get a minimum of 460 correct transcribed words against the dictation of 5 minutes at 100 words per minute in respect of Language Stenography and 414 correct transcribed words against the dictation of 5 minutes at 90 words per minute in respect of Language Stenography to qualify the Stenography Test.
The minimum qualifying mark in the Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 Stenography Proficiency Test shall be 40 marks.
For a minimum correct transcribed word, the candidate shall be awarded 40 marks in the Stenography Test. For each additional correct transcribed word, another 2 marks shall be awarded in addition to 40 marks.
The candidates qualifying in the Stenography Proficiency Test shall be shortlisted for the Objective Type Written Test.
Against each vacancy, four candidates who have qualified in the Stenography Proficiency Test will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the Stenography Proficiency Test who will have to appear in the Objective Type Written Test

Objective-type written test

The Objective Type Written test of Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 for the Stenographer post shall be of 2 hours duration and total marks shall be of l00 with the following subjectwise distribution:

Venue of exam

The Assam Secretariat Recruitment 2024 Stenography Proficiency Test and Objective Type Written Test will be held at Guwahati.

Once the registration process is completed, log in to the portal
After login, the applicant will be able to see the live advertisements of APSC in ‘Apply Section’.
Now, fill out the application form with personal and educational details
Upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format
Then proceed to the payment section and pay the applicable fees
Lastly, submit the form and download it along with the payment receipt for future reference
