Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme: ₹2,500 Monthly Stipend to Graduates and Scholars

The Assam government has introduced the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme in the State Budget 2025-26, aimed at providing financial assistance.

In a significant move to support young graduates, Assam Finanace Minister Ajanta Neog has introduced the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme in the Assam Budget 2025. The scheme is designed to offer ₹2,500 per month for up to one year to graduates from government universities and colleges in Assam who pass out in 2025. A budget of ₹25 crore has been allocated for the initiative, which is set to be launched in October 2025.

All about Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme

Presenting the state budget 2025-26 on Monday, March 10, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said a budget of ₹25 crore has been allocated for the initiative. The Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme is designed to offer ₹2,500 per month for up to one year to graduates from government universities and colleges in Assam who pass out in 2025.

Further extending its support to the academic community, the government has announced a one-time financial assistance of ₹25,000 for research scholars enrolled in state and central government universities, irrespective of gender. Moreover, Divyang (differently-abled) research scholars will receive an enhanced grant of ₹50,000 under the scheme. The minister said only permanent residents of Assam will be eligible for benefits under the scheme.

Financial Assistance Options

  • Monthly Stipend: Graduates can receive ₹2,500 per month for up to one year.
  • One-Time Grant: Instead of the stipend, they can opt for a lump sum payment of ₹25,000.
  • One-time financial assistance of ₹25,000 for research scholars enrolled in state and central government universities, irrespective of gender.
  • Divyang (differently-abled) research scholars will receive an enhanced grant of ₹50,000 under the scheme

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be a graduate of a Govt. university and college from Assam who passed out in 2025.
  • Only permanent residents of Assam can avail of benefits under this scheme.
  • Research Scholars will have to provide the Identity Card issued by the University.
  • DC’s Letter will be required to take one-time Financial Assistance instead of Monthly Installments.
  • Past, present, and future beneficiaries of Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina shall not be considered.
