The Science, Technology and Climate Change Department under the Government of Assam has opened the registration portal for a fellowship scheme, the Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 (CMCRVF 2023). This initiative will encourage students from different areas to work in the field to make an attempt towards making villages climate resilient. The students will receive a grant to help them do this project. This fellowship was started last year i.e. in 2022.
The chosen participants in the Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 will be grouped into pairs. Each pair will be responsible for helping two villages in a specific area. They will receive some training after being selected to understand their tasks. While studying, the participants must share all their findings and data on a website in a specific format. This can also benefit students who want to carry out dissertation projects in the last semester of their Post-Graduation courses.

Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 – Benefits
The selected candidates in the Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 will get paid Rs. 20,000 for the whole project. It will be a one-time amount, which will be paid to the students.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the candidates who want to take part in the Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 are given below:
- The student must be pursuing Post-Graduation or completed his/ her Post-Graduation course in the given selected subjects
- Those students who are pursuing or completed his/ her Graduation in Engineering, in selected subjects are also eligible

How to apply?
The students applying for the Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 must follow the given steps:
- Firstly, the candidates should fill out the Application form (provided below)
- They must include the required documents
- They also need to write a 1000-word summary/ Synopsis explaining their proposal for working on climate change issues in villages
- Once the form is completed, along with all the necessary documents, they should send it via email to cmcrvf2.astec@gmail.com
- In the email subject, they should mention “Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme, 2023”
- Make sure to submit everything before the application deadline
Selection Procedure
The selection procedure for Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme 2023 will comprise evaluation in 2 stages i.e. Written Offline Test and Synopsis evaluation. The selection procedure in detail is given below:
- There will be a written test in offline mode, and the authorities will decide the exam venue
- The students will be selected based on the written examination and the Synopsis they have submitted
- The final marks will counted as per the weightage given in each section:
- Written Examination: 60%
- Synopsis: 40%

Duration and work plan
- The fellowship will be for 3-6 months and after completion, they have to submit a report of their findings and a work plan for the two assigned villages to create a resilient environment.
- During their entire tenure, fellows will be required to upload the findings to centralized platforms, and selected mentors from different institutes will help them curate and manage their data
- Fellows will be given small grants for entry-point activities and small scientific interventions
- The students can also use this opportunity for any project or as a dissertation work (for PG students)
- The nature of the activities will include the following:
- Baseline study of the village
- Inventory and documentation of traditional practices of agriculture, natural farming, on-farm water management and irrigation methods
- Documentation of demographic features, land-use patterns, etc. of the village
- Documentation of biodiversity of the village and their traditional use
- Inventory and documentation of agro-ecology
- Inventory and documentation of traditional knowledge, wisdom, technologies, and their uses
- Study of the impact of the industries/ factories in the adopted village and nearby places
- Assessment of Climate Change Vulnerability and Resilience
- Identification of certain areas for scientific interventions to make the village climate-smart and eco-smart
- Bio-mass, bio-char, and carbon sequestration assessment
- Identification of sustainable livelihood options and agroforestry systems
- Generate innovative ideas for making the villages climate-resilient, promoting a carbon-free culture among villagers, greening the earth and producing self-sustaining resources, etc
- Awareness of cleanliness among the villagers
- Capacity-building activities with a focus on women, students, and youth
- Develop proof of concept for eco-smart village for inclusive development
- Awareness of pollution level in the village and identification of the source of different pollutions in the village and their effect on the livelihood of the villagers
