Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The upper age limit varies by post, and candidates should note that the crucial date for determining age is 12th October 2026:
- Multi-Tasking Staff Gr.1 (Watch & Ward Duties): 25 years
- Technician Gr.1 (Electrical/ Mechanical): 28 years
- Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical/ Civil), Technical Attendant Gr.1, Assistant Gr. II: 30 years
- Scientific Assistant, Engineering Assistant (Electrical/ Mechanical): 35 years
Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwBD/ Ex-Servicemen, as applicable) are entitled to age relaxation as per Government of India norms. Candidates should refer to the official notification of CPRI Recruitment 2026 for the complete category-wise relaxation details.
Educational Qualification
- Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical): First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, along with a valid GATE score of 2024/ 2025/ 2026 in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Civil): First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology in Civil Engineering, along with a valid GATE score of 2024/ 2025/ 2026 in Civil Engineering.
- Scientific Assistant: First Class B.Sc. in Chemistry with 5 years of experience in the relevant subject field.
- Engineering Assistant (Electrical): First Class 3-year Diploma in Engineering/ Technology in Electrical with 5 years of experience.
- Engineering Assistant (Mechanical): First Class 3-year Diploma in Engineering/ Technology in Mechanical with 5 years of experience.
- Technician Gr.1 (Electrical): ITI Trade Certificate in Electrical.
- Technician Gr.1 (Mechanical): ITI Trade Certificate in Mechanical.
- Technical Attendant Gr.1: Matriculation or equivalent pass from a recognised Board. An ITI Trade Certificate in Electrical/ Mechanical is desirable.
- Assistant Gr. II: First Class BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com/ BBA/ BBM/ BCA degree along with a minimum Grade-B certificate in the Basic Computer Course (BCC) conducted by NIELIT, valid on the closing date of the application. Only BCC certificates from NIELIT are accepted; no other computer course qualifies.
- Multi-Tasking Staff Gr.1 (Watch & Ward Duties): Matriculation or equivalent pass from a recognised Board. All posts under this category are reserved for Ex-servicemen.
Nationality
Only Indian Nationals who have attained the age of 18 years and above are eligible to apply for CPRI Recruitment 2026.
Selection Process
- The selection process of CPRI Recruitment 2026 differs by post. Engineering Officer Gr.1 posts are selected purely based on a valid GATE score.
- Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant posts require a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a job-specific practical skill test.
- Technician Gr.1 selection is based on CBT performance along with a Trade Test.
- Technical Attendant Gr.1 and Assistant Gr. II are selected purely on CBT performance, while Multi-Tasking Staff Gr.1 requires both a CBT and a Trade/ Proficiency Test.
- In the event of a tie in CBT score or GATE score, the older candidate (by date of birth) will be placed higher in the merit list.
