CUET 2023: The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India has permitted the North Eastern Region Central Universities to continue the previous admission procedure in regard to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2023). The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma on behalf of the students who requested this special consideration, thanked the Ministry for the same.
Taking into account several natural obstacles, 10 Central Universities located in the North Eastern Region of India are exempted from the CUET 2023. The mentioned geographical conditions are hilly terrain, far-flung location, limited digital connectivity, infrastructure, etc.

CUET 2023: North-east Universities Exempted
The North Eastern Central Universities which will be exempted from the CUET 2023 for undergraduate programmes are namely:
- Sikkim University,
- Rajiv Gandhi University,
- Manipur University,
- Assam University,
- Tezpur University,
- Nagaland University,
- Tripura University,
- Mizoram University,
- North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)
- Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), Uttarakhand
Meghalaya CM’s response
The Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressing his gratitude towards the Education Minister, tweeted, “Thank Hon’ble Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan for considering our request on behalf of our students to exempt the colleges in Meghalaya affiliated to NEHU to come under the purview of CUET for 2023-2024, allowing them to continue with existing admission practices.”
About CUET UG 2023
Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level entrance exam for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs courses. The University Grants Commission introduces the exam for admission to various central universities and colleges.
The National Testing Agency is responsible for conducting the undergraduate entrance test for all central universities for the academic session 2023. This time there is a total of 86 Universities and Colleges that are participating in the CUET. Various reputed and prestigious universities are participating in the CUET exam.
