GDS 2023 Recruitment: India Post has recently released a notification announcing the recruitment of 12828 GDS. Online applications are invited from eligible applicants for engagement as Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in the designation of Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) in Branch Post Offices (BOs) created in the year 2023. The online application for GDS 2023 Recruitment started on 22nd May 2023 and will continue till 11th of June 2023.

Eligibility for GDS 2023 Recruitment

(i) Age

Minimum age: 18 years
Maximum age: 40 years
Relaxation:

Category	Permissible age relaxation
Schedule Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ ST)	5 years
Other Backward Classes (OBC)	3 years
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)	No relaxation
Persons with Disabilities (PwD)	10 years
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + OBC	13 years
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + SC/ST	15 years

(ii) Educational Qualification for GDS 2023 Recruitment

Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard having passed in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/ State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of GDS.
The applicant should have studied the local language at least up to Secondary standard [as compulsory or elective subjects].

(iii) Other Qualification

Knowledge of computers
Knowledge of cycling
Adequate means of livelihood

How to decide on post preferences?

All the candidates who wish to apply for the India Post GDS 2023 recruitment drive will need to set preferences from the available vacancies. And, candidates can set their preferences only after paying the application fees. However, they can check the list of vacancies available in their division and decide their preferences beforehand to make the application process a bit easier.

Next, select a division from the list shown
Click on the view post button, and a list displaying all the details of vacancies will appear on the screen
Please note, the vacancies are allotted with respect to various categories (UR/ EWS/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ PwD, etc.), so you will be able to apply only for the posts, you are eligible for.

GDS Recruitment: How to Apply?

First, the applicant will have to register himself/ herself on the GDS 2023 Recruitment online Engagement Portal with their details to obtain the Registration Number (Scroll Down For the Link)
After successful registration, the candidate must log in to the online application portal using the registration number and fill up all the details as asked on the site.
Next, after filling out the Application Form candidates need to make a payment of rupees 100/-
Lastly, Download and print the acknowledgment form for future reference.

Application Fees

A fee of Rs.100/- is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in choice of Division. However, payment of fees is exempted for all female applicants, SC /ST applicants, PwD applicants, and Transwomen applicants.

Selection Procedure

The applicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system-generated merit list.
The Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the 10th standard of approved Boards aggregated to percentages to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
Please note, passing all the subjects as per the respective approved board norms is mandatory.
