JNCASR Northeast Summer Research Fellowship 2026: Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, has announced the North-East Summer Research Fellowship (NE-SRF) 2026. This fellowship aims to encourage undergraduate and master’s students from the seven sister states of Northeast India to actively engage in research in the natural sciences and engineering fields. Selected students will have the opportunity to work on research projects and gain hands-on experience under expert faculty guidance. The program is designed to foster scientific learning and collaboration between Northeast institutions and JNCASR.

Vacancy Details/ Courses Offered

• An 8-week summer research internship for students enrolled in BSc, BTech, MSc, MBBS, or equivalent degree programs.
• Selected students under JNCASR Northeast Summer Research Fellowship 2026 will work with faculty mentors from institutions located in the Northeast region who are actively engaged in research in:
  Natural/ Mathematical / Geological / Engineering Sciences
• Faculty mentors may assign research projects: A) Entirely within their laboratory in Northeast India, or
  B) In collaboration with JNCASR faculty members in Bengaluru (maximum of 2 will be selected).
• This collaborative framework aims to enhance interdisciplinary research exposure and provide access to advanced research facilities.

Salary/Benefits/Pay Scale

The selected students under JNCASR Northeast Summer Research Fellowship 2026 will get following benefits:

• Fellowship amount of ₹20,000 upon completion
• Annual travel support of ₹25,000
• Additional support up to ₹10,000 for collaboration with JNCASR
• Accommodation support facilitated by faculty mentors in Northeast institutions

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Criteria

• Applicants under JNCASR Northeast Summer Research Fellowship 2026 must be currently enrolled in BSc, BTech, MSc, MBBS, or equivalent degree programs
• Students must have secured a minimum of 65% marks in core/main subjects (excluding languages) and in aggregate in their 10th and 12th standard or equivalent examinations.
• Must have obtained First Class in preceding qualifying examination, as applicable at the time of applying.

Other Criteria

• Applicants applying under JNCASR Northeast Summer Research Fellowship 2026 must be domiciles of one of the seven Northeast states of India
• Willingness to commit 8 weeks per year for research

Selection Process

• Applications will be screened by JNCASR in consultation with the Nodal Coordinator based in a Northeast institution.
• The selection will be based on:
  • Academic merit
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Availability and willingness of the faculty mentor
  • Availability of accommodation
• Up to 10 students will be selected for the fellowship
