Salary and Benefits
- Selected candidates for AAO posts will receive a basic pay starting at Rs. 88,635/- per month with a scale of Rs. 88,635-4385(14)-150,025-4750(4)-169,025.
- Including allowances such as House Rent Allowance and City Compensatory Allowance, total emoluments in an ‘A’ Class city will be approximately Rs. 1,26,000/- per month.
- Additional benefits include contributory pension, special allowances for passing professional examinations, gratuity, LTC, medical benefits, group insurance, vehicle loans, meal coupons, reimbursement for briefcase, mobile handsets, and other allowances as per LIC rules.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years as on 1st August 2025
- Maximum age varies by post: generally up to 30 years for most posts, up to 32 years for AAO Chartered Accountant and Legal posts.
- Age relaxations apply as per government guidelines for SC/ ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and confirmed LIC employees.
Educational Criteria
- AAO Generalist: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university/institution.
- AAO Specialist posts require relevant qualifications such as CA membership for Chartered Accountants, Company Secretary membership for CS, actuarial exams cleared for Actuarial, professional qualification in Life Insurance for Insurance Specialists, and Bachelor’s degree in Law with experience for Legal posts.
- Assistant Engineers require B.Tech/ B.E. in Civil or Electrical Engineering from AICTE recognized institutions along with minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in relevant fields.
Experience
- Assistant Engineers must have minimum three years work experience in planning and execution of multi-storied building projects.
- AAO Legal candidates must have at least two years post-enrolment experience as Advocate or Law Officer.
- AAO Insurance Specialists require at least 5 years of working experience in Life Insurance companies regulated by IRDAI.
Selection Process
The selection procedure of LIC AAO 2025 comprises three stages:
- Preliminary Exam (objective test; qualifying for Main exam)
- Main Exam (objective and descriptive online tests)
- Interview and Pre-recruitment Medical Examination
Only marks obtained in the Main Exam and Interview will be considered for final merit. Preliminary exam marks are qualifying only. The top candidates from Main Exam are shortlisted for the interview as per vacancy and category.

Main Exam
- It will contain objective and descriptive papers for different posts.
- Marks will vary by section; no negative marking in the generalist main exam, negative marking present in Specialist preliminary. English descriptive paper is qualifying only.
