West Bengal TET exam: The recently released list of qualifying candidates for the West Bengal TET exam 2014 by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has brought a political uproar in the state. It was noticed that the list of qualifying candidates contains names that were the same as those in the limelight among the current active politicians in the state of Bengal be it from the ruling or opposition party along with the high-profile name from the center appeared on the merit list of the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) of qualified candidates.
The list contains leaders’ names such as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Suvendu Adhikari, and Sukanta Majumder were found in a fresh TET merit list. The list also included Amit Shah’s name.
The West Bengal TET exam merit list published by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) website on 11th November 2022, contains a total of 1,832 pages with names of 11.25 lakh candidates who qualified for the written examination and are now eligible for the next rounds of tests to be recruited as teachers in the state government-run schools.

The matter has gone to the extent that some lawyers of Calcutta HC raised the issue of unusual names before Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of Calcutta High Court and have asked the Court to verify whether these names pertain to candidates who appeared in the West Bengal TET exam or not.
