The upper age limit for PwD candidates is 48 years for all these posts. Female candidates applying for Junior Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Laboratory Bearer and Grade-IV get an additional age relaxation of 1 year.
Educational Qualification
- Registrar: A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade. The candidate must also have at least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years of service in Academic Level 12 and above including as Associate Professor, along with at least 3 years of experience in educational administration. Comparable experience in a research establishment or other higher education institutions recognised by UGC or AICTE is also accepted. Alternatively, 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years must be as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post, will also be considered.
- Assistant Professor: A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in a concerned, relevant or allied subject, as per UGC 2018 guidelines. Candidates must also have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. degree as per the UGC regulations. The full list of NET exemption conditions is given in the detailed advertisement.
- Deputy Registrar: A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks. The candidate must also have at least 9 years of experience as Assistant Professor or above with 3 years in educational administration, or comparable experience in research establishments or higher education institutions, or 5 years of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or an equivalent post.
- Deputy Controller of Examinations: A Master’s degree in any subject with at least 55% marks. The candidate must also have 9 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 10 and above with experience in educational administration, or comparable experience in research establishments or higher education institutions, or 5 years of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or an equivalent post.
- Finance Officer: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least 8 years of experience in finance and accounts in a university, government organisation, PSU or research organisation. Alternatively, a professional qualification from ICWAI or ICAI, or an MBA in Finance, with 5 years of management-level experience in finance and accounts.
- Librarian: A Master’s degree in library science, information science or documentation science with at least 55% marks. The candidate must also have 8 years of experience as Assistant University Librarian or College Librarian, evidence of innovative library services including ICT integration, and a Ph.D. in library science or a related field, as listed in the notification.
- Junior Assistant: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and a computer proficiency certificate from a recognised institute.
- Laboratory Assistant: A Bachelor’s degree in science from a recognised university.
- Laboratory Bearer and Grade-IV: Higher Secondary (10+2) pass. For posts requiring 10+2, qualifications higher than a Bachelor’s degree will not be accepted.

Selection Process
- For the Registrar post, a Screening Committee will shortlist candidates, who will then be called for an interview. Mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview, and the decision of the Screening Committee is final and binding.
- For the other posts under Nagaon University Recruitment 2026, shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview or written test in due course at a 1:7 ratio. A written test will be conducted for the posts of Junior Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Laboratory Bearer and Grade-IV.
