NERIST Admission 2025: Registration portal is now open for Academic Season 2025-26

The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) located in Nirjuli of Itanagar, is accepting online applications from eligible candidates for admission into the postgraduate and PhD programmes. An entrance test is organized to select candidates, which is named as NERIST Post Graduate Entrance Test (NEPGET). The seat matrix for NERIST Admission 2025 PhD Programmes for the academic season 2025-26 is given below:

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification for PG Programmes

M.Sc. in Forestry

• Candidates must have a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Forestry
• They must have a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate.

M.Sc. in Chemistry

• Candidates must have B.Sc. in Chemistry with Honors or equivalent degree in appropriate/ relevant discipline as notified in the Admission Notice
• They must have 60 % marks in the aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

M.Sc. in Mathematics

• The candidates have B.Sc. Honors/ major in Mathematics or Pass course (for Pass course candidate should have Mathematics as one of the subjects in the third year)
• They must have a minimum of 60 % marks in the aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

M.Sc. in Physics

• The candidates must have a B.Sc. in Physics or equivalent degree in appropriate/ relevant discipline as notified in the Admission Notice
• They must have a minimum of 60 % marks in the aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

Master of Technology (Fulltime/ Sponsored/ Self sponsored)

• The candidates have B.Tech./ B.E. or equivalent degree in appropriate/ relevant discipline as notified in the Admission Notice
• They must have a minimum of 60 % marks in the aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

Master of Business Administration (Full-time)

Candidates have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline/course approved by the UGC or AICTE, as notified in the Admission Notice with 55% marks in aggregate.

Educational Qualification for PhD Programmes (Full-time and Part-time/ Sponsored)

Candidates having a Master’s Degree in Engineering and Technology in a relevant discipline or specialization with 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale and 55% marks in aggregate in Sciences/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management.

Note- A relaxation of 5% marks will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD categories for NERIST Admission 2025.

Selection Procedure

PG Programmes

The selection criteria for NERIST Admission 2025 PG programmes are as follows-

• An applicant with a valid GATE score will be exempted from the entrance examination for admission to M.Tech./ M.Sc. programmes.
• Written Tests shall be conducted for the applicants who do not have a valid GATE/ CAT/ MAT score for admission in M.Tech./ M.Sc./ MBA.
• The applicants for NERIST Admission 2025 MBA will have to appear in the written test and group discussion/personal interview, which will be conducted in the Centre for Management Studies (CMS), subject to the following conditions:
  • Weightage for the written test and group discussion/personal interview will be 75% and 25% respectively
  • Only the CAT/ MAT-qualified applicants will be exempted from the written test
  • Applicants having a valid CAT score will be given 100% weightage of allotted written test marks, while those applicants having a valid MAT score will be given 80% weightage of the same
  • However, an applicant with a valid MAT score can opt to take the written test. In that case,the written test score of the applicant will be considered in place of the MAT score.
  • The list of provisionally selected candidates will be prepared based on the total marks obtained.

PhD Programmes

The selection criteria for NERIST Admission 2025 PG programmes are as follows-

• A GATE/ NET qualified applicant in the relevant discipline/ specialization will be exempted from the Written Test for admission to Ph.D.
• However, candidates have to mandatorily appear in the interview conducted by the respective Department/ Centre.
• The written test shall be conducted for all those candidates who are not exempted from the same.
• Selection will be based on the total marks with a weightage of 70% for the written test and 30% for the performance in the interview.
• The interview will be conducted by the respective Department/ Centre considering the following aspects:
  • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research work.
  • The proposed research area can be undertaken in the institute.
  • The proposed research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

How to apply for the NERIST Admission 2025 PG & PhD Programmes?

To apply for the NERIST Admission 2025, follow the steps, below-

• Candidates who are interested in applying for the NERIST Admission 2025 and meet the eligibility criteria will need to visit the application portal by using the link given below
• Candidates who have already registered will need to log in using their email and password. Those who haven’t registered yet will need to register first
• To register, click on the “New Registration” button by providing their mobile number and email along with other personal details
• Based on the above information, the registration number will be generated
• After successful registration, candidates must log in using the credentials and fill out the online application form
• Next, click on Program Selection, and choose the program
• Enter all the details as directed and upload the essential documents
• After this, the candidate will need to pay the application fees
• Then, the candidate must preview the application form and click on the “submit” button
• Lastly, take a printout of the payment receipt and application form for NERIST Admission 2025 for future reference

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1500/- for the NERIST Admission 2025.
