PM Internship 2025: The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme has been reopened for the second round of the pilot project on January 9 as per the new budget for FY 2024-2025 announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This scheme aims to expose youth to practical skills, enhance employability and develop collaboration between government and top companies. It aims to focus on inclusivity, diversity, and skill development.

PM Internship 2025: An Overview

• The PM Internship 2025 was announced as part of the Budget 2024-25 as a pilot project.
• The purpose of the scheme is to allow youth to provide practical knowledge.
• The target of the project is to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities in top 500 companies.
• The duration of the internship is 12 months, with half the time spent in work environments.

Benefits

the PM Internship 2025 scheme comes with various benefits as given below –

Financial Assistance

• Each candidate will receive monthly stipend of ₹5,000 per intern (₹500 from the company, ₹4,500 from the government via Direct Benefit Transfer).
• Upon joining the internship, one time incidental grant of ₹6,000 will be given.
• Training costs will be covered by the company from CSR funds.
• Up to 5% of CSR expenditure can be used for administrative purposes.

Insurance Policies

• Candidates will receive Government-provided insurance under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
• Additionally, companies may provide accidental insurance.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for PM Internship 2025 must fulfil the following eligibility criteria –

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• Age Limit: The minimum and maximum age to apply is between 21 to 24 years (as of the application deadline).
• Employment Status: The candidate must not be employed full-time or engaged in full-time education.
• Candidate doing online/ distance learning courses are eligible.
• Candidate must have high school, higher secondary, ITI certificates, polytechnic diplomas, or graduate degrees (e.g. BA, B. Sc, B. Com, BCA, BBA, B. Pharma).
• Candidates with family income less than ₹8 lakh are eligible.
• No family member of the candidate should be a permanent government employee.

Selection Procedure

The working procedure for the PM Internship 2025 scheme is as follows –

• The centralized official website of the PM Internship Scheme manages the internship procedure.
• Candidates can choose up to five internships based on preferences (location, sector, role, qualifications).
• Priority will be given to diversity and social inclusivity (e.g. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwBD representation).
• Companies can select candidates from the shortlist and send the offer to the candidate through the portal.
• Candidates can accept offers only via the portal.
• If the candidate accepts the offer, internship documents and certificates will be generated.

Application Process

• At first, candidates need to register themself with a working mobile number and other accurate personal information on the official website.
• After successful registration, candidates need to log in to the application portal using the credentials sent to the email address you provided.
• After that, candidates must upload necessary documents such as their resume, academic certificates, and any additional information requested.
• After that, candidates can choose up to five internships based on their qualifications, interests, and preferred locations.
• Fill out the required details as asked in the portal.
• Lastly, review and submit the application form and submit it.
