The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 for the post of Assistant in the panel year 2025. A total of 650 vacancies are available across various regional offices of the Bank. The selection process is based on a competitive examination in two phases: Preliminary and Main Examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Eligible candidates can apply online through the official RBI website between 16th February 2026 and 8th March 2026.

Salary and Benefits

Selected RBI Assistants under RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 will draw a starting basic pay of ₹29,000 per month with additional increments and allowances. The monthly gross emoluments currently approximate ₹58,514 excluding house rent allowance (HRA). House Rent Allowance of 15% of pay is additionally paid if Bank accommodation is not provided.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying under RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 must have following eligibility criteria as given here:

Nationality

  • Citizens of India, or subjects of Nepal/ Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees settled before 1st Jan 1962, or persons of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with valid eligibility certificate issued by Government of India.

Age Limit (As on 1st February 2026)

  • Minimum age: 20 years (born on or after 2nd February 1998).
  • Maximum age: 28 years (born on or before 1st February 2006).
  • Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Government norms.

Educational Qualifications

  • The educational qualification of the candidate applying under RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026 must have at least a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (pass marks for SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates).
  • Knowledge of word processing on a PC is mandatory.
  • Ex-Servicemen should be graduates or have passed matriculation with significant years of defense service.
  • Candidates applying for specific recruiting offices must be proficient in the local language.

Selection Process

Note: Negative marking of 1/4 marks for every wrong answer is applicable in both exams. A candidate must pass each test individually. The Language Proficiency Test is mandatory and conducted post-Main exam at regional offices.
