Salary

The selected candidates for the post of RRB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 will be placed at Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix with an initial pay of Rs. 35,400 per month. Additionally, candidates will receive other allowances and benefits as per railway service rules.

Age Limit

Candidates applying for RRB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 must be 18 to 33 years of age as on 1st January 2027. The age limits are applicable as per the category-wise provisions in the notification.

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age for UR/EWS: 33 years
• OBC-NCL: Upper age relaxation as prescribed in the notification
• SC/ST: Upper age relaxation as prescribed in the notification
• PwBD and Ex-Servicemen: Additional age relaxation is applicable as per the prescribed rules.
• If eligible for relaxation under more than one category, only the maximum applicable relaxation will be allowed; relaxations are not cumulative.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates applying under RRB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 must possess the educational/technical/professional qualification for the particular post from a recognized Institute/University on or before 13th September 2026, the closing date of application. The exact qualification varies according to the post and is given in Annexure A (Post Parameters) of the notification.

• Qualifications include the prescribed Diploma/Degree/technical qualifications in the relevant engineering or allied discipline, depending on the post.
• Candidates must already possess the required qualification by the closing date.

Medical Standards

Exam Pattern

CBT-I: 100 questions, 90 minutes, objective type. The paper consists of Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science. There is 1/3 negative marking for each wrong answer.

For eligible scribe candidates: 120 minutes
Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

CBT-II

CBT-II under RRB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026: 150 questions, 120 minutes. The examination covers General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment & Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities relevant to the candidate’s selected exam group.

Duration: 120 minutes
Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Note: Unlike ALP, the JE recruitment does not have a CBAT. The selection process proceeds through CBT-I → CBT-II → Document Verification → Medical Examination
