State Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has released the notification for the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026 through its Central Recruitment & Promotion Department, Corporate Centre, Mumbai. This is a Special Recruitment Drive being run specifically to fill SC/ ST/ OBC backlog vacancies for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre, under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16.

Under the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026, a total of 1538 vacancies have been notified across 21 states/ UTs. Candidates can apply for a vacancy in only one State/ UT, and applicants must be proficient in the local language of the state applied for. The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for September 2026, while the Main Examination is tentatively planned for October/ November 2026.

A total of 1538 backlog vacancies are being filled through the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026, distributed circle-wise and state-wise as given below.

• Of the total 1538 vacancies, 207 are reserved for SC candidates, 1219 for ST candidates and 112 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. PwBD and Ex-Servicemen/ Disabled Ex-Servicemen candidates can apply under their respective parent category.
• Candidates should note there is no provision for Inter Circle or Inter State transfer for Junior Associates recruited through this drive, except for intra-state transfer between Delhi Circle and Lucknow Circle in Uttar Pradesh, and between Mumbai Metro Circle and Maharashtra Circle in Maharashtra.

Age Limit

• Candidates applying under the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026 must be not below 20 years and not above 28 years as on 1st April 2026, meaning candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd April 1998 and not later than 1st April 2006 (both dates inclusive).
• Age relaxation is available to candidates from OBC, SC/ ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, widows/ divorced women and Trained Apprentices of SBI, as applicable; candidates should refer to the official notification (linked in Important Links) for the complete category-wise relaxation details.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates applying under the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026 must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government, as on 31st December 2026.
• Candidates in their final year/ semester of graduation may also apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of passing on or before 31st December 2026.

SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

Selection under the SBI Junior Associate Special Recruitment 2026 will be made through the following stages:

• Phase-I: Online Preliminary Examination
• Phase-II: Online Main Examination
• Phase-III: Local Language Proficiency Test (for candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th)

Only the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination will be considered for the final merit list; Preliminary Exam marks are used only for shortlisting candidates for the Main Exam.

There is negative marking of 1/4th mark for each wrong answer in both the Preliminary and Main Examinations.
