The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has released a notification on Monday, 7th of March regarding the conduct of Class 10 board examinations. The Board informed that they will use the Question Papers and Answer Booklets, printed in the year 2021 and remained unutilized due to the cancellation of the examination. Stating the reason, the Board said that the decision was taken to avoid the misuse of natural resources. Last year, the Government of Assam and the Education Boards, SEBA, and AHSEC have collaboratively decided to cancel the exams, considering the huge number of Covid cases in the state.
The Education Minister of the state, Ranoj Pegu has also informed about the step via his Social Media handles, where he shared the notification as well.
Examination Dates
The state education board, SEBA is all set to conduct the Class 10 examinations from next week, on the 15th of March with the English paper. And the examination will end on the 31st of March, 2022 with papers of Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Advanced Mathematics, History, Geography, Home Science, Nepali, Bengali, and Computer Science.

Syllabus
On this notification, SEBA has clearly stated that the Question papers which will be used in the upcoming Board examination of 2022, will be based on the syllabus prescribed by the board on 2nd September 2021. However, there is still confusion as the mentioned syllabus is prepared by cropping down 40% of the original syllabus, and last year board had cropped 30% of it and papers might be set according to it. So, there is a high chance of questions from this extra 10% of the syllabus as well.
The Board, nor the concerned authorities have yet responded to the confusion of this extra 10% syllabus, and this surely will hamper the mental state of students; as examinations are just a week far from today. Candidates can download the syllabus released on 2nd September 2021 from the official website or can use the link given below.

Public Opinion
The latest notification from SEBA has gained a mixed response from the audience. Many students and guardians have posted their queries and thoughts over social media platforms regarding the confusion of the extra 10% syllabus, but have not received any response to it till now. Sankor Jyoti Baruah, General Secretary, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has written in a Facebook post that they are trying their best to convey the message to authorities and have urged the Education Minister of the state to conduct a Press Conference and address the issue as soon as possible. On the other hand, few people sarcastically remarked the phrase “to avoid misuse of natural resources” in various contexts.
