SSC CPO 2026: Apply Online For 1,871 Sub-Inspector Posts In Delhi Police And CAPFs

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026, popularly known as SSC CPO 2026. The Commission uploaded the notice on its website on 10th September 2026 under advertisement E/37/ 2026-C-2 Section. Through this examination, SSC will select candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF.

A total of 1,871 tentative vacancies have been notified this year, covering Delhi Police and CAPFs such as CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, and SSB. Departmental candidates among Constables, Head Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Delhi Police with at least three years of service can also apply for the Open Vacancies of Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police-Male, subject to the applicable age limit. SSC CPO 2026 Vacancy Details

Within Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, the force-wise break-up is BSF (457), CRPF (254), CISF (250), ITBP (187) and SSB (172). Reservation for UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST candidates, along with Ex-Servicemen quotas, is applicable across posts as per extant Government rules, and the complete category-wise figures are available in the official notification.

SSC CPO 2026 Pay Scale

All three posts carry the pay scale of Level-6 (Rs.35,400 – Rs.1,12,400/-). Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF are classified as Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial, while Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police is classified as Group ‘C’ by Delhi Police.

SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan holding a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

• For all posts except Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 20 to 25 years, meaning candidates must be born between 2nd August 2001 and 1st August 2006.
• For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 18 to 30 years, meaning candidates must be born between 2nd August 1996 and 1st August 2008.
• Age relaxation of 5 years is available to SC/ ST candidates and 3 years to OBC candidates, while departmental candidates of Delhi Police get relaxation up to 30, 33 or 35 years depending on category.

Educational Qualification

• For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, candidates need a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent; those who have appeared for their final year examination can also apply, subject to possessing the qualification by the closing date.
• For Sub-Inspector (Fire), candidates need a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Matriculation with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering from a recognised institution.

Physical Standards

• Height and chest requirements vary by post, gender and category, with relaxations for candidates from Hill areas, Gorkhas, Scheduled Tribes and the North-Eastern States.
• For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs, the standard male height requirement is 170 cm with chest 80-85 cm, and 157 cm for female candidates, with relaxed norms for the categories named above. For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the standard male height requirement is 170 cm with chest 81-86 cm.
• There is no minimum chest requirement for female candidates.
• Male candidates applying for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police must also hold a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car); those without one are considered only for CAPF posts.
• Male candidates must clear a 100-metre race in 16 seconds, a 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes, a long jump of 3.65 metres and a high jump of 1.2 metres, among other events.
• Female candidates must clear a 100-metre race in 18 seconds, an 800-metre race in 4 minutes, a long jump of 2.7 metres and a high jump of 0.9 metres.

SSC CPO 2026: Selection Process

Selection will be made through Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME), followed by Document Verification. All stages are mandatory, and candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next.

Exam Pattern

Paper-I and Paper-II of SSC CPO 2026 will both be objective multiple-choice type, set in Hindi and English, with the difficulty level of Paper-II higher than that of Paper-I.

• There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II.
• NCC ‘C’, ‘B’ and ‘A’ Certificate holders will get bonus marks of 5%, 3% and 2% of the maximum marks respectively in both papers of SSC CPO 2026.

• Fill in personal, educational and category details, and choose examination centre preferences.
• Upload photograph and signature as per the specified format.
• Pay the application fee, if applicable, and submit the form.
