SSC Translator Recruitment 2023: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a notification inviting applications to fill vacancies against more than 300 posts of Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator or Senior Translator for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. Eligibility Criteria for SSC Translator Recruitment 2023

(i) Age Limit

To apply for SSC Translator Recruitment 2023, the candidate’s age must be between 18 to 30 years as of 01.08.2023, i.e., candidates must be born not before 02.08.1993 and not later than 01.08.2005.

(iii) Educational Qualifications for Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator vacancies

  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in:
    • Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level OR
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

(iv) Educational Qualifications for Senior Hindi Translator/ Senior Translator vacancies

  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in:
    • Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; OR
    • any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level; OR
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or three years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

SSC Translator Recruitment 2023: How to Apply?

  • First of all, the applicant will have to register themselves on the online Engagement Portal of SSC Translator Recruitment 2023 with their basic details (The link is given below)
  • Once the registration number is generated, candidates will need to log into the portal
  • However, candidates registered for previous recruitment drives of SSC in the year 2023 can log in and apply with the same Registration number without redoing the registration again
  • Now, they will need to enter a few personal details, address information, and details of their education qualifications
  • Next, upload a photo & signature along with all the necessary documents
  • Lastly, pay the application fee and submit the form for SSC Translator Recruitment 2023
  • Also, candidates are advised to download and take a printout of the application form for future references

Application Fees

A fee of Rs. 100/- is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in the advertisement regarding SSC Translator Recruitment 2023. However, payment of fees is exempted for all female applicants, SC/ ST applicants, PwD applicants, and applicants who have served for the country i.e. Ex-Servicemen (ESM).

Indicative Syllabus

  • Paper I: The questions will evaluate the candidates’ grasp of languages and literature. They will assess the correct usage of words, phrases, and idioms. The ability to write the languages accurately, concisely, and with impact will be tested. The questions will be at a degree level of difficulty.
  • Paper II: This section will have two passages for translation. One of the passages will be for translating from Hindi to English, and another from English to Hindi. Additionally, there will be one essay in both Hindi and English. The aim is to assess candidates’ translation skills and their competence in writing and comprehending both languages precisely and effectively. The paper’s complexity will align with the specified educational qualifications.
