NERIST PhD Admission 2025: Admit card released

The admit card for NERIST PhD Admission 2025 is out. NERIST is looking to select 152 eligible candidates and the written entrance exam will occur in 16th December, 2024.

NERIST PhD Admission 2025: The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) has released admit cards for eligible candidates applying under NERIST PhD Admission 2025. Candidates need to open their application portal and download the admit card as directed.

The notification inviting online applications from eligible candidates for admission to various PhD programs offered by Departments/ Centres for the academic session 2024-25 (January-May semester) was released on 29th of October, 2024. The entrance examination of NERIST PhD Admission 2025 will occur in 16th December, 2024.

Selection Procedure

The institute shall admit Ph.D. students through an Entrance Test. The selection procedure for NERIST PhD admission 2025 is as follows:

  • A candidate with a valid GATE score/ NET, including JRF (UGC/ CSIR/ ICAR), will be exempted from the entrance examination for admission to the Ph.D. However, they must mandatorily appear in the interview conducted by the respective Departments/ centres.
  • The written examination shall be conducted for all candidates not exempted from the written test.
  • There will be a single question paper for each Department/ Centre with 100 multiple-choice questions of one mark each.
  • The question paper will have two sections.
  • Section A will be worth 50 marks on Research Methodology, which is common for all the Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences Departments and the Centre for Management Studies.
  • The questions in Section B will be from the respective Departments/ Centres for 50 marks.
  • The cut-off to qualify in the written test of NERIST PhD Admission 2025 will be 50 marks including both sections A and B. A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ Differently-abled/ EWS categories.
  • The selection will be based on a weightage of 70% for the written test and 30% for the performance in the interview.
  • Interviews will be conducted by the respective Departments/ Centre considering the following aspects:
    • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research work.
    • The research area can be suitably undertaken at the institute level.
    • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/ additional knowledge.
