ICAR AICE PhD 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a notification and announced that the registration process for the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, which organizes an entrance examination known as the All India Competitive Examination (ICAR AICE) for the Ph.D. Admission began on the 6th of May, 2025. Overview of programmes under ICAR AICE PhD 2025

• The admissions under ICAR AICE PhD 2025 will be conducted in 72 subjects across 89 cities nationwide.
• It offers admission to Doctoral programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Fisheries, Dairy Science, and allied fields.
• 30% of seats (and 100% at Dr. RPCAU, RLBCAU, ICAR-IVRI, IARI, CIFE, NDRI) are filled under the ICAR-AU system.
• A maximum of 40% candidates from any one state can be admitted per subject and category.
• Fellows cannot hold any other scholarship during the ICAR fellowship tenure. Any existing scholarship must be surrendered.
• Fellowship amount is Rs. 37,000/ month (1st & 2nd year) and Rs. 42,000/ month (3rd year).
• A contingent grant of Rs. 10,000/ year is provided for research needs.
• Only 50% of the grant can be used for buying books.
• In-service candidates must join a university other than their workplace to receive admission and fellowship.
• In-service fellows drawing leave salary will receive Rs. 3,000/ month from ICAR plus the regular contingent grant.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

• Only Indian Nationals who are 20 years or older as of 31st August 2025 are eligible to appear for the examination.
• No exceptions or relaxation will be granted on the minimum age limit under any circumstances.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have completed Master Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Fisheries, Dairy Science, and allied fields from recognized Universities.
• Candidates must have Minimum OGPA for General/ OBC/ UPS (Under Privilege States)/ EWS categories:
  • 6.5/ 10.00
  • 5.85/ 9.00
  • 5.20/ 8.00
  • 4.55/ 7.00
  • 3.90/ 6.00
  • 3.25/ 5.00
  • 2.60/ 4.00
• Candidates must have Minimum OGPA for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Third Gender categories:
  • 5.50/ 10.00
  • 4.95/ 9.00
  • 4.40/ 8.00
  • 3.85/ 7.00
  • 3.30/ 6.00
  • 2.75/ 5.00
  • 2.20/ 4.00
• In other cases, where grade points are not awarded and only marks areawarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General/ OBC/ UPS and EWS categories whereas for SC/ ST/ Third Gender / PwBD categories the requirement is 50% marks.
• Candidates must have passed the ICAR AICE PhD 2025 exam to secure admissions in research programmes.

Exam Pattern

• The mode of the ICAR AICE PhD 2025 exam will be Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions.
• The duration of exam is 2 hours.
• Total number of questions 120.
• The medium of paper is English.
• There will be 4 marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answers.
