Introduction

The Indian Air Force invites online applications for the Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 under the Agnipath Scheme. This recruitment is for unmarried Indian male and female candidates to join the Indian Air Force as Agniveervayu for a period of four years. The scheme offers youth the opportunity to experience military life, with the possibility of being selected into the regular cadre based on performance during the engagement period.

Upon completion of four years, Agniveervayu will receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package totalling approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs. Additional benefits include medical and CSD facilities, risk and hardship allowances, dress and travel allowances, and leave travel concession as per Indian Air Force rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates applying under Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 must be born between 1st January 2006 and 1st July 2009 and are eligible to apply. The upper age limit at the time of enrolment is 21 years.

Marital Status and Pregnancy

Only unmarried candidates are eligible and must commit to not marrying during the four years of engagement. Female candidates must not become pregnant during the engagement period, as pregnancy leads to discharge from service.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying under Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 may apply under two categories:

  • Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and English with minimum 50% aggregate marks and 50% in English. Or a three-year diploma in engineering with specified branches and 50% marks.
  • Other Than Science Subjects: Passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent in any stream with minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English.

Domicile Category

Applicants must declare their domicile category at registration, selecting from Permanent Domicile, Children of Air Force Personnel (COAFP)-I (serving parents), or COAFP-II (retired/discharged/deceased parents residing in state/UT).

Medical Standards

  • Minimum height: 152 cm for males and females (relaxations apply for female candidates from certain regions).
  • Weight proportionate to height and age.
  • Minimum chest circumference for males 77 cm with 5 cm expansion; female candidates must have minimum 5 cm chest expansion.
  • Normal hearing, good dental health, and normal anatomy without deformities.
  • Visual acuity correctable to 6/6 each eye with specified refractive errors limits.
  • Zero tolerance for narcotics, permanent tattoos mostly prohibited with some exceptions, and Sikh candidates permitted to retain hair/beard as per religious customs.

Selection Process

The selection process of the candidates under Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 is based on following phases

  • Phase-I: Online Test assessing Science subjects, Other than Science subjects, or both, depending on the candidate’s qualification.
  • Phase-II: Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Tests (I and II), and document verification.
  • Phase-III: Medical Examination as per Indian Air Force standards.
  • Final selection based on merit list prepared state-wise after all phases.

Exam Pattern/ Admission Test Details

The examination of the test for the selection under Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 is given as follows:

  • The online test will be an objective type and bilingual in English and Hindi, except for the English paper.
  • Science Subjects test duration: 60 minutes covering Physics, Mathematics, and English.
  • Other than Science Subjects, the test duration is 45 minutes, covering English, Reasoning, and General Awareness.
  • Combined test (Science + Other): 85 minutes covering all subjects.
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer, 0 for unattempted, and -0.25 for wrong answers.
  • Physical Fitness Test includes a 1.6 km run, push-ups, sit-ups, and squats with specified timings for male and female candidates.

  • Colour printout of duly filled application form
  • Passport size photographs (eight copies)
  • Original and photocopies of matriculation certificate and marks sheet
  • Original and photocopies of Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent certificate and marks sheet or Diploma/Vocational certificates as applicable
  • Original and photocopies of domicile certificate or COAFP certificate
  • Original Phase-I Admit Card
  • Photographs of body tattoos (if applicable)
  • Original and photocopies of NCC certificates (if applicable)
  • Permission letter from employer for serving candidates
  • Aadhaar card or valid photo identity proof (except candidates from J&K, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya)

  • Verify mobile number and email through OTP.
  • Fill in personal, communication, qualification, and other details, upload required documents and photographs.

  • Pay the non-refundable application fee online through net banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
  • Download and print the application form after successful submission for future reference.

Fee Structure
