APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has issued Advertisement No. 12/2026, inviting online applications for recruitment to the post of Research Assistant under the Labour Welfare Department, Government of Assam. APSC functions as the state’s premier recruiting body for various civil and departmental posts under the Government of Assam.

As per the notification (eCF No. 821483/39, dated 4th August 2026), a total of 1 vacancy has been notified for this post. Selected candidates under APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 will also be entitled to other allowances as admissible to Assam Government employees from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality and Domicile

Candidates under APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 must be Indian citizens as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and must be permanent residents of Assam. As domicile proof, candidates need to upload either a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a minimum of a 2nd class Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Science or Commerce from any recognised university.

Preferable Experience

Candidates possessing the following will be preferred, though these are not stated as mandatory requirements:

• A Diploma in Computer Application
• Experience in dealing with subjects of Labour Laws in a Government Department/ Organisation
• A Degree or Diploma in Labour Laws/ Social Works

Age Limit

Candidates applying under APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 should not be less than 21 years and not more than 38 years of age as on 1st January 2026. The upper age limit is relaxable as follows:

• SC/ST candidates: up to 43 years (5 years’ relaxation)
• OBC/MOBC candidates: up to 41 years (3 years’ relaxation), as per Government Notification No. ABP.6/2016/9 dated 25th April 2018
• Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years’ relaxation, irrespective of SC/ST/OBC/UR category, as per Government Memorandum No. ABP 144/95/121 dated 28th October 2015

Age will be calculated strictly on the basis of the Class-X/ Class-XII Examination Admit Card/ Pass Certificate/ Marksheet issued by a recognised Central/ State Board or Council, clearly reflecting the date of birth. No other document will be accepted for age proof.

For PwBD category candidates, since no post is currently reserved under this category, they will have to compete with other candidates without any PwBD reservation, but must still possess a Benchmark Disability of 40 percent or more supported by a certificate from a competent authority to claim age relaxation.

Selection Process

• The selection procedure for this post will be notified later by the Commission through a corrigendum or addendum, as required.
• The Commission will decide the selection method considering the status, cadre and grade of the post, as well as the number of applications received.
• Candidates may be called for a Screening Examination or Written Examination, followed by an Interview/ Viva-Voce, at a place and time fixed by the Commission.
• The Commission may also conduct the examination/ test zone-wise, depending on the number of candidates from each district, as shown below:

Documents Required

• Permanent Resident Certificate or Employment Exchange Registration Certificate (domicile proof)
• Mark sheets of all semesters/ years and the final Bachelor’s Degree pass certificate
• Certificates supporting preferable experience (Diploma in Computer Application, Labour Laws experience certificate, or Degree/ Diploma in Labour Laws/ Social Works), if claimed
• Class-X/ Class-XII Admit Card/ Pass Certificate/ Marksheet clearly showing date of birth, for age proof
• PwBD certificate of 40 percent or more benchmark disability, if applicable
• Certificate of employment or No Objection Certificate (NOC), for candidates already in regular Government service
• Small Family Norms declaration in Form-A
• Recent photograph (50 KB to 200 KB, not older than 3 months)
• Signature (50 KB to 200 KB)

• Register through the One Time Registration (OTR) process using a valid and active e-mail address and mobile number, if not already registered.
• Log in using the registered e-mail/ mobile number and password.
• Fill in the required registration details as asked in the form.
• Read the eligibility criteria carefully and fill in all mandatory fields, marked with an asterisk (*).
• Upload the required documents/ certificates in the prescribed format and size.
• Upload a recent photograph and signature as per the specified size.
