New cases regarding unethical means have been reported in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination as cheating cases increase in the SEBA HSLC exams 2023 in many places in Assam. Recently there has been a tense situation as nine students (eight girls and one boy) were expelled from a Centre in Laharighat, Morigaon as cheating cases increase in the SEBA HSLC exams 2023. They were using unethical means to pass their examination.
Apart from the given incidents, many other incidents such as in Sukchar in the South Salmara Mancachar district were also reported. Recently, it was reported that the question paper of Chemistry was leaked online under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) board, though these charges were entirely denied by the authorities.

Cheating cases increase in the SEBA HSLC exams 2023: Mass Cheating in Cachar
The mass cheating incidents were not prevalent earlier in the state. But in a recent incident, such new cases have been reported from SEBA examination. During the English examination, mass cheating was carried out by 760 students. After the incident, the police acted swiftly. After reports of mass cheating surfaced last week, it has ordered re-examination for those students of the centre at JR Higher Secondary School, Ganirgram, Cachar.
There was an order that the SEBA issued on Monday regarding the cheating incident in the school as cheating cases increase in the SEBA HSLC exams 2023. It stated that during the examination of English subject held on March 3, a section of candidates of centre no. B23-0138, J R Higher Secondary School, Ganirgram of Cachar district was reported to have used unfair means during examination hours.
The Social Science examination was held amidst tight security and under strict supervision. This Centre was also in the limelight recently as the mathematics question paper was leaked online minutes after the start of the exam. As per reports, metal detectors were used to check the candidates before entering the exam hall.
The SEBA on Monday announced the 760 students of the JR Higher Secondary School centre would have to re-appear in the English subject paper subject in the Compartmental examination, 2023, to be held in due course.
S Ali Higher Secondary School: Students caught using unfair means
In S Ali Higher Secondary School at Sukchar in South Salmara Mankachar district, two HSLC candidates were expelled. The candidates were directly removed for using unfair means while appearing for the exam.
Meanwhile, on the second day of the exam, the question paper for the Mathematics subject was allegedly leaked in the Cachar district. The incident happened at a centre in Daloogram. Though this has been mentioned as a leak, it was later reported that a cheating incident had actually occurred.
Laharighat cheating scenario: Cheating cases increase in the SEBA HSLC exams 2023
In Laharighat Higher Secondary School, Morigaon, nine students were dismissed from the school. The students were trying to use unethical means for passing the Social Science Examination. Eight female students and one male student are among the expelled students.
