Covid cases scenario

The Covid cases in Assam have seen a huge increment in the last few weeks. And Guwahati city is one of the most affected among all covid hotspots in Assam. There are nearly 1500 daily cases with a positivity rate of more than 2%. This was the threshold maintained by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, beyond which institutes would be regulated by the government. “Assam on Tuesday reported 8,072 new Covid cases, the highest single-day spike since the onset of the pandemic, pushing the tally to 6,61,789”, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said this week.

However, there are still many educational institutions in Guwahati operating with the offline mode of study; that may lead to a scarious situation in the coming days. Reportedly Gauhati University has already begun to be the next Covid hotspot. And so, this precautionary step from Cotton University is welcomed by a wide range of students around. Though a few were seen to be unhappy with the decision from authorities of Cotton University, as it came a bit early; before any reported high number of covid cases.
