Cotton University has released the notifications for admissions into postgraduate courses. The application portal for Cotton University PG Admissions 2023 is open from the 5th of June, and interested candidates will have time upto the 18th of June to apply for admissions.

In this academic session 2023-24, Cotton University will admit around 1000 students to its PG courses. Here is the detailed list of courses available along with the number of seats in each programme:

Who can apply?
- The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree with Honours from a recognised university to be eligible for Cotton University PG Admissions 2023.
- The candidates applying for the LLM courses need to have an LLB degree.
- However, for admissions into MCA and PG Diploma programmes, candidates will be eligible even without a major/honors in their Bachelor’s degree.
50% seats for Cotton graduates
Cotton University reserves 50% of seats in all the PG programmes for the graduates of the university itself. Hence, any graduate from Cotton University, who is passing this year or has passed in 2022 can avail the benefit of the same and get their admissions. The remaining 50% of the seats in each postgraduate programme will be open to graduate students from any of the recognised universities/ institutions, subject to their eligibility conditions.
However, there are no such reservations for Cotton graduates in the few programmes, and 100% of the seats in the following courses are open to all:
- Master in Library Science
- LLM
- PG Diploma in Gender Studies
- MA in Bodo

Cotton University PG Admissions 2023: How to apply?
- First of all, candidates need to visit the official website of Cotton University
- Click on the highlighted link saying ‘Admissions 2023-24’
- Once you are redirected to the admission portal, click on the ‘Register’ button given under the headline ‘Online Admission Form Fill-up for PG Courses
- Now, enter your Email ID and Mobile number, choose postgraduate in the option given to select courses, and then request an OTP and submit it
- After registering successfully, candidates have to login into the admission portal and fill up the application form part by part, as instructed in the admission portal
- Next, candidates have to upload their photo, signature, and all the necessary documents
- Lastly, the applicants should pay the application & entrance fees and submit the form
- Also, candidates need to download the Application Form of Cotton University PG Admissions 2023, as it may be required for future references
Application Fees
While registering, students will need to pay the application & entrance fees of amount Rs. 800. Candidates can pay the registration fees by choosing any of the payment methods available in the admission portal. The available payment methods are Debit Cards, Credit Cards, UPI, etc.
However, for existing students of Cotton University, a part of the application fees will be refunded if he/she chooses to go for CGPA-based admissions only and doesn’t appear in CPGEE 2023.
Admission Procedure
(a) For Cotton Graduates
The candidates, who have graduated from Cotton University itself in the years 2022 and 2023 can get their admissions via the following methods:
- CGPA-Based Admission: In all the subjects, which require candidates to have honours in the concerned subject, the Cotton graduate can be admitted on the basis of their CGPA in bachelor’s degree. Such candidates should have a minimum of 5.5 CGPA for admissions (5.3 for OBC/ MOBC and 5.0 for SC/ ST candidates)
- Entrance-Based Admission: In those subjects for which the eligibility criteria of Honours/ Major in the qualifying UG Degree does not specify the concerned subject only, admissions will be on the basis of CPGEE 2023 scores. Here is the list of such courses:
- MA in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology
- Master of Computer Applications
- M.Sc in Environmental Biology & Wildlife Sciences
- The standard reservation policy set by the government of Assam for OBC/ MOBC/ ST(P)/ ST(H)/ SC/ EWS/ PWD candidates will be followed while admitting Cotton graduates.
(b) For Open Category Seats
- On the other hand, for the remaining 50% of seats in such courses and 100% of seats in programmes like Master in Library Science, LLM, PG Diploma in Gender Studies, and MA in Bodo; the admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in the Cotton University Postgraduate Entrance Test, also known as CPGEE.
- The standard reservation policy set by the government of Assam for OBC/ MOBC/ ST(P)/ ST(H)/ SC/ EWS/ PWD candidates will also be applicable for admissions in open category seats.
CPGEE 2023 & Merit List
The entrance examination for Cotton University PG Admissions 2023 will probably be conducted by the last week of June. This will be an OMR-based paper and candidates will need to solve 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in 90 minutes of time. The candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each of their correct answers and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
The question papers for CPGEE 2023 will be based on Cotton University’s syllabus for the corresponding undergraduate course. And for programmes, which are not available in the UG curriculum of the university; question papers will be based on the standard syllabuses of reputed universities under UGC.
Once the entrance test is completed, Cotton University will release the subject-wise merit lists for both CGPA and CPGEE-based admissions. And selected students can get their admissions according to these lists on the scheduled dates for Cotton University PG Admissions 2023 into corresponding programmes.

- If a candidate wants to apply in more than one subject or programme, then she/he has to complete the online application procedure in those subjects or programmes separately.
- However, there shall be no change of schedule of CPGEE 2023, if there happens to be a clash of date and time of the entrance examinations for any candidate applying for multiple PG programmes.
