The Director of Medical Education (DME) has announced a recruitment drive to hire 10 Nursing Professors for Government Nursing Colleges in Assam for engagement on a contractual basis. This notice, issued under the ME&R Department, cancels the earlier advertisement dated 21st August 2026 and the corrigendum dated 24th August 2026.
Candidates interested in the DME Recruitment for Nursing Professor vacancies will need to appear for a walk-in interview, as no separate online application process has been prescribed. A total of 10 vacancies are on offer across five nursing specialisations.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Essential qualification: M.Sc. (Nursing).
- Experience: total 12 years’ experience with M.Sc. (Nursing), out of which 10 years must be teaching experience after M.Sc. (Nursing).
- PhD (Nursing) is desirable.
- Candidates must be registered under the Assam Nurses’ Midwives and Health Visitors’ Council and the Employment Exchange of Assam.
Age Limit
- The upper age limit for the DME Recruitment of Nursing Professor vacancies is up to 50 years of age as on 1st January 2026.
- The age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates, and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), irrespective of category.
- The age of candidates will be calculated based on the Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card or Certificate issued by a recognised Board/Council, and no other document will be accepted instead of this.
Documents Required
Candidates must carry the following at the time of the walk-in interview of Nursing Professor, along with a set of self-attested copies:
- Original certificates and documents relating to educational qualification
- Original documents relating to experience
- Original documents relating to age
- Identity proof
- Two passport-size coloured photographs
Steps to Attend the Walk-in Interview
- Download the prescribed application format from the official website, dme.assam.gov.in.
- Fill up the format with personal, educational and experience details.
- Arrange all original certificates and documents relating to qualification, experience, age and identity proof.
- Prepare a set of self-attested copies of all the above documents.
- Report to the venue (Office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam, Sixmile, Khanapara, Guwahati-781022) on the scheduled date and time along with the filled format, originals and self-attested copies.
