The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has announced the ICMR Scientist Recruitment 2026 for the post of Scientist-B (Non-Medical). This recruitment process is conducted through direct recruitment and the examination will be held by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Interested candidates can apply online for the position which includes vacancies at ICMR Headquarters and its various Institutes and Centers across the country. The recruitment aims to fill posts across different non-medical disciplines related to biomedical sciences, IT/ computer science, and pharmacology.

Salary/ Pay Scale
The pay scale for all Scientist-B (Non-Medical) posts under ICMR Scientist Recruitment 2026 is Level-10, ranging from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 as per the 7th CPC scale.

Age Limit
Maximum age is 35 years as on the last date of online application submission for all categories.
Educational Qualifications
- Scientist-B (Non-Medical): Master’s degree from a recognized university in biomedical sciences-related subjects. Desirable experience in research and development relevant to biomedical sciences.
- Scientist-B (Non-Medical – IT/ Computer Science): ME/ M.Tech in Computer Science, or ME/ M.Tech/ MCA/ BE/ B.Tech/ B.Sc. (Engineering in Computer Science/ IT) with PhD in IT/ Computer Science. Desirable experience in regulatory New Approach Methodologies as alternatives to animals.
- Scientist-B (Non-Medical – Pharmacology): Master’s in Pharmacy (Pharmacology) or Pharm-D degree recognized by UGC/ PCI. Desirable experience in pre-clinical /experimental pharmacology.
Age Relaxation
- SC/ ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years (max age 56 years)
- PwBD + OBC: 13 years
- PwBD + SC/ST: 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
- Central Govt. Civilian Employees: up to 10 years depending on category and service
Selection Process
The selection process under ICMR Scientist Recruitment 2026 is as follows:
- Stage I: Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 objective-type questions.
- Stage II: Interview conducted by ICMR, New Delhi.
Exam Pattern/ Admission Test Details
The exam pattern under the selection process of ICMR Scientist Recruitment 2026 is given here:
- The CBT examination will have 100 questions totaling 100 marks with negative marking (1/3rd for each wrong answer).
- Subjects include research methodology, basic biostatistics, diagnostic & screening test validity, bioethics, communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutrition, logical reasoning, general knowledge, and English aptitude.
- Qualifying marks for CBT are 50% for general category and 45% for SC/ST/PwBD.
- The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the interview only.
