The launching of the HPCL Kashmir Super 50 will come with a new hope to fulfill the dreams of students in this area. It will not only help the students to study in a medical coaching centre but also assist the financially weak students who clear the entrance examinations to get admitted to the premier institute such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
HPCL Kashmir Super 50: About the initiative
The programme is to provide free coaching in order to encourage students throughout their medical exam preparations. The medical entrance test National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) is organised each year. The initiative will help the students to crack the examinations and get admitted to the premier institutes.
The initiative actually started back in the year 2021, when only boys were admitted. There was a collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) back in 2021, to complete the project. In 2021, there was a capacity for only 30 students. The new inclusion of 20 seats is now available for the girls and the total available seats will be 50 from this year. The authorities conduct an entrance test and an interview round for the selection procedures of these 50 candidates, where 20 female students and 30 male students are selected.
HPCL Kashmir Super 50 will also sponsor the students studying in the premier institutes. It will help the students who are financially very weak and are unable to pay the fees. The sole purpose behind the “HPCL Kashmir Super 50” programme is to provide a helping hand for the students who dream of a medical career in the future. The Indian Army is with the noble initiative to motivate the youth of Kashmir and ensure their better preparations in the coaching institute.
Views and reaction!
Many prominent faces such as SS Slaria, General Officer Commander (GOC) of Kilo Force have said in the media about the importance of modernising education in Kashmir. He said “In North Kashmir, the security situation is stable. It is moving towards normalcy. Once you look at the benchmarks, there are many positives. Terror instances are going down. Incidents of ‘Hartaals’ are going down. The tourism sector is looking up with better arrivals of the tourists, and more students are going to schools. The youth has to choose their heroes well. If they choose them well, they will be on the right path.”
Wahid Farooq, a teacher in the Army-sponsored institute, also said “We started this project in 2018 and visited every school and conducted written examinations to shortlist students for the coaching programme. In 2018, we took 30 students out of which 25 cleared the entrance examination for the medical colleges. The project was converted from Super 30 to Super 50 (HPCL Kashmir Super 50) in 2021 after which girls were also inducted. We have 30 boys and 20 girls studying here and they are provided free of cost facilities to pursue their ambitions. The Army is also sponsoring fees once the students get admissions to institutions such as AIIMS.”
Anupreeta Shandilya, another teacher in the coaching institute has said about the 100 percent success record for the boys and will also replicate the same for the girls under the initiative. The students were also quite happy with the selection procedures and the kind of education provided there.
