The National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a Government of India undertaking headquartered in Kolkata, has released the NICL AO Recruitment 2026 notification for 321 Administrative Officer (Scale I) posts. The vacancies cover both Generalist and Specialist disciplines and will be filled from the open market.
Eligible candidates can apply online from 8th October 2026 to 28th October 2026. The selection for NICL AO Recruitment 2026 will be based on a two-phase online examination followed by an interview.

NICL AO Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 30 years
- The age will be calculated as on 1st October 2026.
- Candidates must have been born between 2nd October 1996 and 1st October 2005 (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold the required qualification as on 1st October 2026, with a valid mark sheet or degree certificate. They need at least 60% marks in either of the degree examinations (55% for SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates). The qualification must be from a recognised Indian university approved by UGC or an institute approved by AICTE.

Nationality
A candidate applying for NICL AO Recruitment 2026 must be one of the following:
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia, or from Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India
Candidates falling under the second to fourth categories must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. A candidate can apply for only one discipline. If multiple applications are submitted, only the latest valid application will be retained, and the fee paid for the others will be forfeited.
Selection Process
The selection under NICL AO Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in the following stages:

| Interview |
- Around 15 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted from the Preliminary Examination for the Main Examination, subject to availability.
- Candidates must qualify in each section by securing the passing marks decided by the company.
- Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview based on their overall marks in the Main Examination.
- The descriptive test is qualifying in nature, and its marks will not be counted for the interview shortlisting or the final selection.
- The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the Main Examination and the interview, in the ratio of 80:20.
- In case of a tie, the candidate with higher interview marks will be ranked above. If the interview marks are also the same, the older candidate will be placed higher.
- A waiting list not exceeding 50% of the vacancies may also be prepared.
Exam Pattern
Phase I: Preliminary Examination
The Prelims Exam of NICL AO Recruitment 2026 is an objective test of 100 marks and 60 minutes duration, with separately timed sections.

The English Language section will be in English only, while the other two sections will be bilingual (English and Hindi).

Phase II: Main Examination (Objective Test for Specialists)
Specialist candidates will have an additional section to test technical and professional knowledge in their discipline. The total is 250 marks in 3 hours.

Descriptive Test
The descriptive test carries 30 marks and has a duration of 30 minutes. It covers Essay (10 marks), Précis (10 marks) and Comprehension (10 marks). The answers must be typed on the computer, and the test will be held immediately after the objective test.
For wrong answers in the objective tests of both phases, one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted. There is no penalty for a question left blank.

- Photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm)
- Signature on white paper with black ink (not in capital letters)
- Left thumb impression on white paper with black or blue ink
- Handwritten declaration in English on white paper with black ink (not in capital letters)

- Click on the “Apply Online” option under the “Recruitment” section.
- Choose “Click here for New Registration” and enter the name, contact details and email ID.
- Note down the provisional registration number and password generated by the system.
- Fill in the application form and upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration as per the specifications.
- Capture and upload the live photograph using a webcam or mobile phone.
- Preview the form, then click “Complete Registration” after verifying all details.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form.
- Take a printout of the e-Receipt and the application form for future reference.
