The position of Supreme Court Junior Assistant Recruitment 2026 falls under Pay Level 6 of the pay matrix, offering an initial basic pay of ₹35,400/- per month. Additional government allowances are provided on top of this basic amount.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 30 years
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Physically Challenged/ Ex-Servicemen categories are entitled to the usual age relaxation as per Government of India rules.

  • Dependents of freedom fighters will get age relaxation of up to a maximum of five years over the upper age limit. There is no upper age limit for departmental candidates of the Registry of the Supreme Court of India.

Selection Process

  • The selection under the Supreme Court Junior Assistant Recruitment 2026 will be held in four stages: Objective Type Test, Typing Speed Test on Computer, Written Test (Descriptive) in English language and Interview.
  • If a large number of candidates qualify in the Objective Type Test by securing at least 50 marks, candidates will be shortlisted for the second stage on the basis of the merit list, in the ratio of 1:10 against the number of tentative vacancies.
  • The second stage comprises the Typing Speed Test and the Written Test.
  • Answer sheets of the Written Test will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify the Typing Speed Test, as qualifying the typing test is mandatory.
  • Candidates who qualify in all three tests will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 against the number of tentative vacancies.

The Objective Type Test contains 100 questions, distributed as follows:

  • General English, including comprehension section: 20 questions
  • General Aptitude: 15 questions
  • General Knowledge: 15 questions
  • Provisions relating to Judiciary in the Constitution of India: 15 questions
  • Computer Knowledge: 15 questions
  • Supreme Court Rules, 2013: 10 questions
  • Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961: 10 questions
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in the Objective Type Test.
  • The Typing Speed Test will be held in the English language with a minimum speed of 35 w.p.m., and mistakes up to 3% of the total words typed are allowed. An error in a word or figure will be treated as a full mistake.
  • Wrong typing of a capital letter for a small letter (or vice-versa), and omission, addition or substitution of a punctuation mark, will be treated as half a mistake.
  • The Written Test (Descriptive) will be in the English language and will consist of a comprehension passage, precis writing and essay writing.
