Assam: Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes; SEBA to implement new changes in 2024

State Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu has given new indications toward changes in the education system as Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes from 2024. The education minister during his speech during the ‘Pariksha pe Characha 2023’ program, conducted nation-widely, announced that there has been a step of change taken towards the examination procedure of SEBA Board Examinations.

SEBA has also announced other more important decisions regarding Class 10 and Class 12 education. As Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes in 2024, there is a space for long discussion regarding the implementation of this decision so that a fruitful decision comes out within the timeframe.

Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes from 2024: Key changes to be implemented

There are a few points regarding SEBA and ministers’ decisions regarding new changes at the event of the Parisksha Pe Charcha 2023. Some of the key highlights regarding the discussions are as follows:

Inclusion of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet

As Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes, there will be two papers for each subject. One paper will be based on the paper they used in earlier examinations and the other paper will be based on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) where the students need to mark the answers. As there will be MCQ questions, the answer to these questions will be answered in the OMR sheets that have been provided to them.

Test examination before matriculation examination

The students will be facing a test exam before the final matriculation examination. The students will get used to all the procedures regarding the final exam which will give them a boost to their preparations. Their final examination preparation will also be promoted in a very accurate manner.

Class 12 will be their High School leaving examination

As per new changes regarding the NEP, Ranoj Pegu announces new academic changes regarding the leaving examination of the High-School which will be Class 12. This will be a significant step towards putting the NEP on track and diffusing the matriculation from the academic curriculum. This step was on the bucket list of the current government from a long time ago, and it finally has been given a signal from the ministry itself.

Final Examination for Class V and Class VIII students

Apart from all of the decisions, the state cabinet has approved the decision to conduct regular final examinations in Class V and Class VIII at the end of every academic year. This is a change from an earlier procedure where the students were not detained back but from now onwards the same process would not be followed. The students can be detained if he/ she fails the exam, keeping a condition regarding re-conduction of the exam if they fail in the previous ones, after 2 months of the former.
