“Take every child to school, register them, provide them with facilities like a free uniform, books, bags, shoes, socks, and sweater, etc,” the CM said. Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need for government schools to achieve all the goals of ‘Operation Kayakalp‘, which is another great initiative from the UP government to renovate, repair, and give schools a facelift. The CM also requests that along with the public representatives associated with the schools, the MLAs should also adopt one school each and look after the progress made under the initiative.

According to the CM of Uttar Pradesh during the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’, the public representatives are to go to every household and check if there is any child that is not availing of the gift to study. If there is any, the child is to be registered in the nearest school and is to be provided with a school uniform, books, socks, shoes, sweaters, etc. All government schools must also offer basic facilities such as clean drinking water, toilets, mid-day meals, etc.

Earlier attempts of ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’

The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ was launched for the first time in July 2017. The chief minister mentioned “There was no arrangement for drinking water, midday meals, toilets. However, in three years (till 2019), the number of students in schools increased to 1.80 crores from 1.34 crores in 2017. Also, in the last few years, the government has taken steps to provide basic accessories needed by each student, like free books, two uniform sets, shoes, socks, and sweaters.” The Abhiyan has made commendable progress since then and it hopes to make increased progress this year during the time period till 30th April 2022.
