The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released a notice on its official website about the SSC CHSL  Recruitment 2026. The application forms for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Examination 2026 is open from the 07 September, 2026 and interested candidates have time up to the 07 October, 2026 to apply for the same.

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 Vacancies

  • The Staff Selection Commission will hold a competitive examination for recruitment to the Group C posts viz. Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operators for various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc.
  • As per the notification under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026, there are approx 2536 vacancies.
  • However, firm vacancies will be determined in due course by SSC. And updated vacancies, if any, along with Post-wise & category-wise vacancies will be made available on the website of the Commission in due course.
  • Candidates may note that State-wise/ Zone-wise vacancies are not collected by the Commission.

Pay Scale

  • LDC/JSA: Candidates appointed to the Lower Division Clerk (LDC) or Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) posts will receive Pay Level-2, with a pay scale of Rs. 19,900–63,200 under under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026.
  • DEO: Candidates appointed as Data Entry Operators (DEOs) will receive Pay Level-4 (Rs. 25,500–81,100) or Pay Level-5 (Rs. 29,200–92,300), depending on the post.
  • DEO Grade ‘A’: Candidates appointed as Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’, will receive Pay Level-4, with a pay scale of Rs. 25,500–81,100.

Eligibility for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026

Age Criteria

  • A candidate must be either:
    • a citizen of India, or
    • a subject of Nepal, or
    • a subject of Bhutan, or
    • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • The age limit for the posts is 18-27 years as of 01-08-2026. Candidates must be born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008.
  • Kindly note, there are certain relaxations in age criteria for candidates coming from reserved categories, and interested candidates can find out about it on the official notification.

Educational Criteria

  • The candidates applying under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026, there are specific requirements. They are
    • For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ministry of Culture and Staff Selection Commission: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
    • For LDC/ JSA and DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry mentioned at Para 8.1 above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Note:

  • Tier-I is an objective-type Computer Based Examination (CBE). There will be 0.50 marks negative marking for each wrong answer.
  • The time of the Tier 1 is alloted as 60 minutes

Tier-II under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is conducted in two sessions on the same day.

Note:

  • Session-I is conducted for 2 hours 15 minutes, while Session-II comprises the Skill Test/Typing Test. Sections I and II carry 3 marks for each correct answer, with 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer.
  • The Computer Knowledge Test under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is mandatory but qualifying, while the Skill Test/Typing Test is also qualifying in nature. For LDC/JSA, the Typing Test is conducted for 10 minutes, with a required speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi.

  • A copy of your Aadhaar card, and if the Aadhaar Number is not available, then candidates can submit any one of the following ID proof:
  • Information about the Board, Roll Number, and Year of Passing the Matriculation (10th) Examination
  • Disability Certificate Number, if the candidate is a person with a benchmark disability

  • Visit the official website of SSC given below
  • On the Homepage, click on the â€˜New User? Register Now’ provided in the ‘Login’ section
  • After completion of the registration process, log in to the portal by using your Registration Number and password
  • Now, click on the link given to apply in the ‘Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026’ section under the ‘Latest Notifications’ tab
  • Fill in the required details and upload the required documents followed by the fee payment
  • Lastly, download the application form and keep it for future reference

Application fee

  • While filling up the application forms, candidates will need to pay an application fee of Rs. 100.
  • However, women candidates and candidates who are applying under SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 and are eligible for reservation under SC, ST, PwD, and Ex-servicemen quota are exempted from payment of the fee. Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
  • Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Debit cards. 10.4 Online fee can be paid by candidates up to 08-10-2026 (23:00 hours).
