SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026: Apply now for 731 vacancies!

SSC has released the notification for 731 vacancies under SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026. Check important dates before applying online.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an Open Competitive Computer-Based Examination for direct recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’). These positions under SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026 are available in various Ministries, Departments, and Organisations, including their Attached and Subordinate offices, and Statutory bodies of the Government of India, located across different States and Union Territories. Only candidates with stenography skills are eligible to apply.

Vacancy

There are approximately 731 vacancies that are tentatively announced for now under the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2025. However, the firm number of vacancies will be determined in due course.

Pay Scale

The selected candidates from the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026 drive will draw a starting basic pay and allowances as follows:

Eligibility criteria

(i) Age

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age (Grade C): 30 years
    •  Candidates born not before 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2008 are eligible to apply.
  • Maximum age (Grade D): 27 years
    •  Candidates born not before 02.08.1999 and not later than 01.08.2008 are eligible to apply.
  • Relaxations in the upper age limit:
    • Schedule Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ ST): 5 years
    • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years
    • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): No Relaxation
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + OBC: 13 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + SC/ST: 15 years

(ii) Educational Qualification

  • Completion of class 12th examination: The candidate looking to apply for SSC Stenographer C and D Recruitment 2025 should have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University.
  • Stenography Proficiency Assessment: Candidates who qualify in the Computer-Based Examination must participate in a Stenography Skill Test. During this test, candidates will receive a 10-minute dictation in either English or Hindi (based on their choices in the online Application Form) at a speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The dictated matter must be transcribed on a computer.

How to Apply?

  • First of all, the applicant will have to register himself/ herself on the SSC Stenographer Recruitment Engagement Portal with their details (Scroll Down For the Link)
  • Once the registration number is generated, candidates will need to log into the portal
  • However, candidates registered for previous recruitment drives in the year 2026 can apply with the same Registration number without redoing the registration again
  • Now, they will need to enter a few personal details, address information, and then put up the marks obtained in Class 12th
  • Add all the necessary skill certificates along with all the required documents
  • Lastly, upload a photo & signature, pay the application fee and submit the form for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026
  • Also, candidates are advised to download and take a printout of the application form for future references

Application Fees

A fee of Rs. 100/- is to be paid by the applicants for all posts notified in the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026 advertisement. However, payment of fees is exempted for all female applicants, SC/ ST applicants, PwD applicants, and applicants who have served for the country i.e. Ex-Servicemen (ESM).
