SSUHS PhD Admission 2026: Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), a state university in Guwahati, Assam, has invited applications for SSUHS PhD Admission 2026. The written entrance test will be held on 27th November 2026 (Friday) from 11 A.M. onwards at the University premises.
Eligible candidates from Health Sciences and Allied Health Sciences can apply for the programme in the faculties of Allopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurvedic Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. Eligibility Criteria for SSUHS PhD Admission 2026
The eligibility conditions for the PhD programme under SSUHS are given below.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates applying under SSUHS PhD Admission 2026 must hold a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to a Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body.
- Candidates awarded the DNB (Diplomate of National Board) are also eligible.
- Candidates with an M.Sc. in the medical faculty of Anatomy/ Physiology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Pharmacology from a recognised institute are also eligible.
- Candidates who completed the M.Phil. programme before 2022 with at least 55% marks in aggregate, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited foreign educational institution, are eligible.
Minimum Marks and Relaxation
- Candidates applying under SSUHS PhD Admission 2026 must have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale. This condition does not apply to Post-Graduate degree holders whose grades or marks were not issued by the concerned University.
- A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) or an equivalent grade relaxation is allowed for SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled/ EWS candidates and other categories as per UGC regulations.
- The relaxation is based only on qualifying marks and does not include grace marks.
Candidates Not Eligible
- Candidates with a Master’s degree in non-medical subjects having no relevance to Allied Health Sciences disciplines are not eligible. Candidates qualified in subjects not under medical education and AYUSH should not apply.
- SSUHS has the right to determine the recognition status and equivalence of a candidate’s degree before registering the candidate for the PhD programme.
Selection Process
- Selection of SSUHS PhD Admission 2026 will be based on the written entrance test followed by an interview/viva-voce conducted by the University.
- The entrance test carries a weightage of 70%, while the interview/viva-voce carries a weightage of 30%.
- A candidate must secure at least 50% marks in the entrance examination to be eligible for the interview/viva-voce.
- Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR-UGC NET (including JRF), SET or GATE, and Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the written entrance test. However, they will have to appear in the interview/viva-voce. The NET marks are valid for one year from the date of declaration of the UGC-NET/ CSIR-UGC NET result.

- Visit the application portal by clicking on the link given below in the “Important Links” section.
- Pay the application fee through the Student Corner on the University website by selecting Online Fees Payment, then the payment category as student/applicant/candidate, and the fees category as PhD fees, followed by Application Fees for PhD.
- Fill in the Google Form available on the University website.
- Upload the payment receipt and other supporting documents along with the filled-in application form.
- Submit the form on or before 31st October 2026 up to 4 P.M.
- Send hard copies of the application form with the related documents submitted in the Google Form to the Registrar (Academic), Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Narakasur Hilltop, Bhangagarh, Guwahati-781032.
