The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), an autonomous organization established under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India invites online applications for the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across the country.

The selection will be done completely on the basis of the performance on the Eklavya Model Residential Schools Staff Selection Exam (ESSE-2023), which consists of a written exam (OMR based) for all the posts and an interview or skill test for particular posts.

What are Eklavya Model Residential Schools?

Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) are residential schools established with the objective of providing quality education for Class VI to XII students belonging to the ST category. These schools are set up at block level with separate hostels for boys and girls, accommodation for teachers, a mess facility, a playground, and all other facilities similar to Navodaya Vidyalayas. In EMRSs, teaching and non-teaching staff are also required to stay on campus for which rent-free accommodation as available will be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria such as age limit, education qualification, and experience required to be applicable for the various posts at Eklavya Model Residential Schools are as follows-

1. Principal

Age limit:

• Not exceeding 50 years of age as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules

Qualification and Experience:

• Master’s Degree from a recognized University/ Institute and B.Ed. degree
• Persons having 12 years of combined experience as Vice Principal/ PGT/ TGT with a minimum of 4 years as PGT and above
• More preferable if the applicant has experience working in a fully residential school, Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Regional Language and working knowledge of computers

2. Post Graduate Teacher

Age limit:

• Not exceeding 40 years of age as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules
• Age relaxation up to 55 years for EMRS employees

Qualification and Experience:

• Post Graduate degree from any recognized University/ Institute in the subject the applicant wants to apply
• B.Ed. Degree. (In case of integrated 4 years degree course, B. Ed. is not required)
• For PGT (Commerce) applicants must have Commerce with Accounting/ Cost Accounting/ Financial Accounting as a major subject of study. Holders of Degree of M.Com. in Applied/ Business Economics shall not be eligible

3. PGT (Computer Science)

Age limit:

• Not exceeding 40 years as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules
• Age relaxation up to 55 years for EMRS employees

Qualification and Experience:

• M.Sc. (Computer Science/ IT) MCA from a recognized University/ Institute. OR
• M.E. Or M. Tech. (Computer Science/ IT) from a recognized University/ Institute

4. Accountant

Age limit:

• Not exceeding 30 years as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules
• Age relaxation up to 55 years for EMRS employees

Qualification and Experience:

• Degree of Commerce from a recognized University/ Institute

5. Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

Age limit:

• Not exceeding 30 years as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules
• Age relaxation up to 55 years for EMRS employees

Qualification and Experience:

• Senior Secondary (Class XII) certificate from a recognized Board and possessing a minimum speed of 35 words per minute in English typing or 30 words per minute in Hindi typing

6. Lab Attendant

Age limit:

• Up to 30 years as of 31st July 2023
• Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC and other categories as applicable under the Govt. of India Rules
• Age relaxation up to 55 years for EMRS employee

Qualification and Experience

• 10th Class Pass with a certificate/ diploma in Laboratory technique OR
• 12th Class with science stream from a recognized board/ university

Eklavya Model Residential Schools Staff Selection Exam

The written examination will be conducted on an OMR-based pen and paper mode and the Medium of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools Staff Selection Exam will be both in Hindi and English. Further, for the post of PGT (Third Language), the medium of test for Part-V (Domain Knowledge) will be in a concerned third language

Exam Pattern

1. Principal

• Exam (Objective Type): 130 marks and Language Competency Test – 20 marks
• Duration: 3 hours
• Personality Test/ Interview: 40 marks

2. Post Graduate Teacher

• Exam (Objective Type): 130 marks and Language Competency Test – 20 marks
• Duration: 3 hours

3. Accountant

• Exam (Objective type): 130 marks
• Duration: 2½ hours

4. Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

• Stage I: Exam (Objective Type): 130 marks
• Duration: 2½ hours
• Stage II: Typewriting Test [will be assessed on PC (Personal Computer) only] with a total of 50 marks- passing marks shall be 20. This part shall be qualifying in nature. Candidates based on merit shall be called for Stage II i.e. Typewriting test in the ratio of 1:3.

5. Lab Attendant

• Exam (Objective type): 120 marks
• Duration: 2½ hours
