Admit cards for CAT 2022 are out now; Get complete info on exam patterns, syllabus

IIM published the admit cards for CAT 2022, which will be held on the 27th of November 2022. Please read the complete article to learn about the exam pattern and its syllabus.

The Indian Institute of Management has released the Admit Cards for the Common Admission Test or CAT 2022 examination. Candidates who are looking forward to sitting for the examination on the 27th of November 2022 can check out the official website to download the Admit Cards.

The registration portal for CAT 2022 was open from the 3rd of August, and candidates had filled out their forms before the 14th of September, 2022. This year, the Indian Institutes of Management is planning to conduct the computer-based test on November 27, 2022.

CAT 2022 Admit Cards: Steps to download

Candidates who are willing to appear for CAT 2022 can follow the below-mentioned steps in order to download their Admit Cards from the website :

  • First of all, candidates will need to visit the official website
  • Then, click on the login button and enter their user ID and password
  • Once logged in, click on the given option to view and download the admit card
  • Lastly, take a printout of the same as candidates will need to carry it to the examination hall

Exam Pattern

  • The CAT 2022 will be conducted on November 27, 2022 (Sunday) in 3 sessions.
  • There will be 40 minutes for candidates to answer the questions of each section, and they will not be allowed to switch sections while answering questions in a section.
  • The sections are as follows:
    • Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
    • Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
    • Section III: Quantitative Ability
  • The test paper will have both MCQ and non-MCQ type questions, however, the number of questions varies and is not disclosed on the official website.
  • For MCQ-type questions, 3 marks will be awarded for correct answers, 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answers, and no marks for unattempted questions.
  • Whereas for questions other than MCQs, 3 marks will be assigned for every correct answer and no marks will be deducted for incorrect or unattempted answers.


All the candidates should note that IIM has not released any defined syllabus for CAT 2022. Hence candidates should go through the previous papers for an idea about the syllabus and topics included. Also, candidates can attempt the mock test provided on the official website to understand the pattern of examination and types of questions. However, the mock test is not available currently, and candidates should check the CAT website regularly for the announcement of the mock test.

Admission Procedure

Once the examination is conducted successfully, IIMs will release the scorecards for CAT 2022 by the 2nd week of January 2023. And IIMs will start admitting students on the basis of these scores into various programmes. Though a candidate’s performance in the entrance test will be an essential component for consideration in the selection process, respective IIMs can also have their own set of rules & eligibility criteria for admissions. And IIMs may also use the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, and other similar inputs in short-listing candidates at various stages of the admission process.
