Cotton University PhD Admission 2025: Apply now for PhD seats in 25 Departments

Cotton University released the notifications for admission into Ph.d. programs for this academic session on March 28th, 2025. However, the application portal for Cotton University PhD Admission 2025 has not opened yet. It will tentatively open in the second week of May, and interested candidates will have time to apply until the third week of May.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Educational qualifications for the Cotton University PhD Admission 2025 are as listed below:

• Candidates should have a Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized University or Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade, or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign educational institute in a subject related to the Ph.D discipline to which applied.
• A relaxation of 5% in marks will apply to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD having more than 40% disability, EWS, and other such categories as per government rules.
• Candidates in the 4th semester of their postgraduate course are also permitted to apply. However, their candidature will be considered subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria.

Selection Procedure

The final selection of candidates for the Cotton University PhD Admission 2025 will be based on candidates’ performance in the Cotton University Entrance Test/ NET and the Personal Interview. Here, the scores of the entrance test or NET shall carry 70% weightage, and the Personal Interview will carry 30% weightage.

Cotton University Entrance Test 2025

• Cotton University will conduct an entrance test for admission into the Ph.D program on 31st May 2025.
• This entrance test will be conducted for 70 marks.
• This exam for Cotton University PhD admission 2025 will contain 50% questions from Research Methodology, and the remaining 50% questions will be subject-specific.
• Candidates securing 50% (35 marks) or above in the entrance test will be shortlisted for viva voce/ personal interviews.
• Candidates, who have cleared NET before June 2024 or SLET in related disciplines, may be eligible for a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks of the entrance test.
• Also, a relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the Entrance Exam for the candidates belonging to various reserved categories.

Exemption from Entrance Test

• Candidates who are already qualified for fellowship/ scholarship in UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE, ICMR, DBT examinations, and similar national-level examinations shall be allowed to appear directly in the Personal Interview/ Viva voce of Cotton University PhD Admission 2025. In their case, selection shall be based on their performance in the interview only.
• Candidates who have qualified for NET in category 2 or category 3 in the NET examination of June 2024 or later will also be exempted from the Entrance Test.

Note: Candidates will be shortlisted for admission into the Ph.D program considering the number of declared vacancies by the departments, research interest of the candidates and performance in the interview.

How to apply for Cotton University PhD Admission 2025?

• First of all, candidates need to visit the admission portal of Cotton University
• Next, click on the link to apply given under the “PhD Admissions 2025-26” section
• A new page will open where new candidates will need to register themselves
• After registering successfully, candidates will have to log into the admission portal and fill up the application form part by part, as instructed in the admission portal
• Next, candidates have to upload their photos, signatures, and all the necessary documents
• Lastly, the applicants should pay the fees and submit the form
• Also, candidates need to download the Application Form of Cotton University PhD Admission 2025, as it may be required for future references

To apply for Cotton University PhD Admission 2025, candidates will need to pay an application fee, which will be Rs. 1200.
