JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027: Apply Online for Lateral Entry Selection Test by 30th September

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, has invited online applications for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). The admissions are for the academic session 2027-28 and will be made only against the vacant seats likely to be available in JNVs.

Students who are studying in Class X during the 2026-27 session can apply for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 free of cost. The last date to submit the online application is 30th September 2026, and the Lateral Entry Selection Test will be held on 10th April 2027.

Streams Offered

At present, 665 JNVs are functional across 27 States and 8 Union Territories, except Tamil Nadu. Seats in Class XI are limited to the vacancies that remain after students already studying in JNVs are admitted from Class X. The notification does not mention a fixed number of seats.

Admission is offered in the following streams, subject to the availability of seats and accommodation in the JNV concerned. JNV-wise stream availability is given in Annexure-III of the official notification (linked below).

Eligibility Criteria for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027

• Date of birth must be between 1st June 2010 and 31st July 2012 (both days inclusive). This age limit is the same for all categories, including SC and ST candidates.
• The candidate must be studying in Class X during the 2026-27 session in a Government or Government-recognised school, affiliated to CBSE or any other State Education Board or recognised Board.
• The school must be located in the district where the JNV is situated. Both residence and Class X study in that district are considered for the district-wise merit list.
• Only Indian nationals studying Class X in India can apply.
• Candidates who passed Class X before the 2026-27 session are not eligible.
• A candidate from one State is not eligible for admission in another State.

Selection Process

Selection for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 will be made on the basis of the Lateral Entry Selection Test, which will be conducted by an external agency as per NVS policy. After the test, provisional selection will be done in the following manner:

• A district-wise merit list will be prepared first, and candidates will be provisionally selected against the vacancies in the JNV of their district.
• Any vacancies left in the JNVs of the same State will then be filled from a State-level merit list, as per merit and the options exercised by the candidates.
• Candidates can apply for a maximum of two streams. Multiple options will be considered in the order of Science, Commerce and Humanities.
• Once selected for a JNV and stream, a change of JNV or stream will not be entertained.

Vacant seats in the Rural/ Girl/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ Divyang categories will be filled by candidates of the respective category. If qualified candidates are not available in a category, seats will be filled as per NVS norms. OBC reservation is as per the Central list, and OBC candidates whose caste is not in that list should apply as General candidates.

Cutoff for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027

A candidate must score at least 6 marks out of 20 in each of the five subjects. The merit list will then be prepared on the basis of marks out of 60 in the subjects given below.

Along with the sectional cut-off, an overall cut-off out of 60 will also be applied.

If two candidates score the same marks out of 60, the tie will be resolved in the following order:

• A female candidate will be preferred over a male candidate.
• The candidate with higher marks out of 40 in the two subjects, excluding Mental Ability, will be preferred.
• The candidate with higher marks out of all five subjects, that is, out of 100, will be preferred.
• The candidate who is younger in age will be preferred.

Provisional selection does not give any right to admission. Admission will be confirmed only after verification of documents, and the selected students will also undergo a medical check-up by the Vidyalaya doctor. NVS may modify the selection criteria for administrative reasons.

Exam Pattern

The selection test of JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 will be two and a half hours, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and will have only objective-type questions. A bilingual (English and Hindi) question paper will be provided in a single test booklet covering all five sections.

Each question carries one mark and has four options, out of which only one is correct. There is no negative marking. Answers must be marked on an OMR sheet using only a blue or black ballpoint pen, and use of a pencil is strictly prohibited. Divyang candidates will get an additional 50 minutes. The syllabus is given in Annexure-I of the notification.

At the Time of Registration

• Photograph of the candidate (JPG format, 10 to 100 kb)
• Signature of the candidate (JPG format, 10 to 100 kb)
• Signature of the parent (JPG format, 10 to 100 kb)

The Aadhaar number of the candidate is also required while filling in the basic details.

After Provisional Selection

• Birth certificate issued by a competent Government authority as proof of date of birth
• Proofs of eligibility as per NVS conditions
• Copy of Class X pass certificate issued by the Board of study
• Certificate from the competent authority of the District Administration stating that the Class X school is in a rural area, for candidates seeking admission under the rural quota
• Residence certificate of the parent from the same district where the JNV is located and the candidate studied Class X, for selection under district merit
• Copy of the Aadhaar card of the candidate
• Divyang certificate, if applicable
• SC/ ST/ OBC category certificate, if applicable (OBC certificate must be as per the Central list)
• Transfer Certificate from the parent school, to be applied for only after verification of documents and confirmation of admission by the JNV concerned

Steps to Apply for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027

• Visit the application portal by clicking on the link given below in the “Important Links” section.
• Read the notification cum prospectus and make sure the eligibility criteria are fulfilled.
• Fill in the basic details such as State (residence and study), District (residence and study) and Aadhaar number.
• Select a maximum of two streams and up to three JNVs for each stream from the options shown on the portal.
• Upload the photograph and the signatures of the candidate and the parent.
• Check all the details carefully, submit the form for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 and note down the registration number.
• Use the correction window, which will be opened after the last date of submission, to fix any mistakes.

The form can be filled from a desktop, laptop, mobile or tablet. A help desk is also available in every JNV to help parents and candidates upload the application free of cost. Once the correction window closes, no request for correction will be entertained.

Applicable Fee

• Registration for JNV Class 11 Admissions 2027 is free of cost.
• However, a Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi of Rs. 600/- per month is collected from students of Classes IX to XII.
• SC/ ST students, Divyang students, all-girl students and students from families below the poverty line are exempted.
