NIT Hamirpur PhD Admissions: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, is inviting applications for PhD programs offered by 14 departments from the disciplines of Engineering, Science and Humanities. The PhD program is open to all Indian and Foreign individuals. Read the article to know about the eligibility and other relevant details to apply on or before 22nd April 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
- The PhD program is open to all Indian and foreign nationals. However, foreign candidates require the approval of ICCR/ MoE.
- There is no age restriction unless specified for fellowships (UGC-NET/ JRF).
- The category-wise minimum marks are as follows –
- General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL: 60% or CGPA 6.5/ 10 in the qualifying degree.
- SC/ ST/ PwD: 55% or CGPA 6.0/10.

Selection Procedure
The selection process for the PhD program at NIT Hamirpur consists of multiple stages, including eligibility screening, written tests (only for Non-GATE/ NET candidates), and interviews.
Preliminary Application Shortlisting
- Verification of the applicant to ensure fulfillment of minimum academic qualifications (CGPA/ percentage, GATE/ NET score, etc.).
- The Sponsored/ Part-Time candidates must submit a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- A provisional list of candidates will be released after this.
- Only the shortlisted candidates will be able to proceed to the next stage.
Written Test (For Non GATE/NET Candidates)
- Non-Fellowship Full-Time Research Scholars and Part-Time Research Scholars candidates without GATE/ NET must appear for this exam.
- The syllabus will be department-specific based on the GATE/ NET pattern.
- The mode of examination will be offline, conducted at the campus of NIT Hamirpur.
- The minimum qualifying mark is 50% (relaxed to 45% for SC/ ST/ PwD).
Interview
- All candidates must appear for the interview.
- Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of –
- Academic record (30%)
- Scores of GATE/ NET/ Written Test (30%)
- Interview performance (40%)
- The interview involves the presentation of research interests/ previous work by the candidate.
- Admission to NIT Hamirpur will depend on the matching of research interest with a faculty guide.
