NLU Meghalaya starts admission process for UG and PG courses; check eligibility, dates, and other details

The Office of the Registrar of the National Law University of Meghalaya has recently released a notification inviting online applications for admission to Under-Graduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) programs in the National Law University of Meghalaya, Shillong for the academic session 2023-23.

Courses available at NLU Meghalaya

Undergraduate Programs-

• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) [BA LL.B (Hons)]
• Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Law (Honours) [BBA LL.B (Hons)] 
• Bachelor of Science (Data Science) and Bachelor of Law (Honours) [BS LL.B (Hons)]

Postgraduate Programs-

• Master of Laws with a major in Corporate Law (LL.M)

Eligibility criteria for admission to NLU Meghalaya

Undergraduate Programs-

• First Division/ Class (60% or 6.5 on 10 point scale) in 10+2 examination.
• Those who have appeared for the 10+2 examination and are awaiting results are eligible to apply. In such cases, they must attach proof of CGPA/ Marks in Class 10 (Secondary) examination.

Postgraduate Programs-

• First Division/class (60% or 6.5 on 10 point scale) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B/B.L (5 years) program from any recognized National or International University; or
• First Division/class (60% or 6.5 on 10 point scale) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B/B.L (3 years) program from any recognized National or International University along with a Bachelor’s Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities/ Science/ Commerce or equivalent.
• If the degree awarding Institute/ University does not explicitly mention “First Class”, then the eligibility will be a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale.
• The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree-awarding Institute/ University provides marks in the CGPA system. Then, the admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10, the eligibility of the candidate will be calculated corresponding to the equivalence.
• Those appearing in the final examination of the last qualifying degree are eligible to apply. In such cases, they must attach proof of CGPA till the last semester.

Application procedure

• Applicants are required to log in at the portal and register at www.nlumeg.ac.in.
• Once they receive the login id and password, they are required to fill up the NLU Meghalaya online application with all details and submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) indicating their career goals and reasons for opting for, a dual degree in law for undergraduate and postgraduate. Such SOP should not exceed 500 words
• After completing their application form, they are required to pay the requisite application fee and click the submit button after verifying the details. Please note that incomplete applications and/or applications without fee payment will not be processed.
• All applications are to be submitted online. There is no provision for hard copy submission.
• The following documents are required to fill NLU Meghalaya online application form:
  • Last available Degree Certificate
  • EWS/ OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ SC/ ST/ PD/ Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Identity Card (Aadhaar/ Passport/ PAN, Driving Licence)
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) to cover the following-
    • Career Goals
    • Interest in pursuing the specific program

The applicants will be selected for admission to NLU Meghalaya based on the results of the entrance examination which are as follows:

For Undergraduate Programme [BA/ BBA/ BS LL.B (Hon)]

• NLU Meghalaya Undergraduate Admission Test [MEG UAT]

For Postgraduate Programme [LL.M]

• NLU Meghalaya Postgraduate Admission Test [MEG PAT]
• Interview

The cities for appearing in the NLU Meghalaya entrance exam are listed below and applicants will have to choose only two cities from the list of cities mentioned in the application portal.
